Big Red Machine 06-27-2008 04:57 PM

Thats an awesome car

BV 06-27-2008 05:02 PM

if it was orange i would be there but i still dont want to miss this oppurtunity, they are only making 1300 or so of these this year. I dont want to pay 20k over sticker though, i'd go 10 over sticker though.

I don't think i will. From what I am reading they are going to step up production on these cars because of so may interested in this car.

It will be like the ford mustang is now, a dime a dozen.

Corvette (GM) won't let that happen.

I'm Looking For A... 06-27-2008 05:08 PM

anything over 35k is a waste for that car.

go 40 MAX! and thats for a hemi.

end of the day, its a giant dodge. but it does come standard with terribly awful interior... if ur into that niche.

you can find used, 2,000-5,000 miles on em, Z06 all day long dirt cheap. if performance is what you are after, go the Z06 route. used tho. soon as anyone pulls a z06 out of the dealer, it drops its price by like 15k. crazy.

my associate payed 58,000 for his. 2,300 miles on the odo.

:2 cents::2 cents:

Spunky 06-27-2008 05:14 PM

I think they look sweet..go for it

nico-t 06-27-2008 05:49 PM

i just love the looks of that car.

been there done that, bought a 50th anniversary in 03
I would take a new 08 z06 any day over this challenger but now the zo6's are insane expensive. The mac daddy one is anyways. Close t0 85k or something (i think)

this was my zo6 a few days after i bought it in 03

It was their 50th anniversary edition:

Go get your car dude, its fun having that one :)

ztik 06-27-2008 06:05 PM

Uh wait a week and get it 10k under sticker from ebay

car dealers are about the biggest idiots I have ever met in my life. They think they deserve an extra 10k over standard price on cars simply for the fact that they rented a car lot and got a loan to buy cars

Yah I see some zo6's in the 69k range on ebay at dealerships.

But ya know what GM fucked up is when they made the zo6 look like a coupe with the slanted long window glass trunk/hatchback.

I love the front of the new vettes compared to the older style like i had in 03, but I loved how the window was in the back and it had an actual trunk lid. Like a convertible is now.

I hate that long glass hatchback thing, it screams 1980's and makes the zo6 look like all the others.

dav3 06-27-2008 06:30 PM

It looks nice, but it's a Dodge.

xentech 06-27-2008 06:31 PM

That car is bad as fuck

Rochard 06-27-2008 06:36 PM

I surely wouldn't pay $60k for it...... Not when you know it's going to loose half of it's value the moment you drive it off the lot....

xNetworx 06-27-2008 06:37 PM

Looks pretty good. Wouldn't pay more than 40k for it tho.

Yah I know, I was actually just taking my Speed Triple for a ride and when I went by the dealership I was like whoa, "They have one!"

I am so impulsive it's pathetic.

After Shock Media 06-27-2008 06:46 PM

First thought was aww how cute its a bbw version of the original challenger.

GTS Mark 06-27-2008 07:24 PM

Haha i was just having a laugh with a buddy of mine this afternoon when we were talking about cars. We are both pretty enthusiastic car guys and have both lost our ASSES with cars... Spending too much to have one first, spending too much or having a longer than wanted lease...

My suggestion even though it might not be the popular one would be to wait for 3 months and you will have one for LESS than sticker price and you won't feel like a schmuck. Otherwise bite the bullet, spend the extra 20k+ and hope you don't see this thread in 3 months haha ;)

Anyways it's a great looking car and I hope you enjoy it (if you end up buying it. :)

Shemp Where are you when I need you?

I want it, but my local dealer is charging 40k over MSRP. I don't want it that much. It isn't an $80k car.

gne112 06-27-2008 07:50 PM

Can you order them yet?

Limited edition. Each dealer only gets a couple. Guess the thing to do is find a dealer in bumfuck MS and try to get it from them.

BV 06-27-2008 08:28 PM

Well it had this keyless ignition and there was so many people looking at it that all the sales people were like WTF who has the keys. It was like a carnival. All the salesman were trying to sell it all at the same time to like 4 people.
I guess each dealer gets 1 of these special editions. 1300 made?

Baddog this dealer wanted 20 over sticker and the sticker was laying on the seat and it said 42k something.

I ebayed it and see them in the 60's.

I'm pretty sure the kid salesman that i was talking too said 62k.

I really didnt even look inside at it. I have read enough about this car. and the closer i look the more impulsive i get.

If they were offering o% interest like they did on my vette i would have said SOLD. I like free money. But fuck it. I don't need it. I'll wait it out. I think they will be more and more commonplace with more basic engines from what I read.

and that will devalue them especially paying 20 over sticker, unless you were a collector and put it right in storage

its a very good car, a little bigger than i thought it would be, and they are in short supply...there was a rumour a few months ago that the 2010 version would have a 510hp, 6.4 litre hemi, but with gas prices so high, who knows if that is still the plan..

Sean 06-27-2008 09:27 PM

they are going to make 6400 of them. there are some dealers that are getting close to 25k over sticker for them... but i preordered mine at just over sticker. they are not going to be 10k cheaper anytime soon.

next year they are coming out with a six speed pistol shifter. but i could not wait

Chauncy 06-27-2008 09:34 PM

way over priced for a dodge I mean the new camaro is coming out soon which is gonna be high 20's mid 30's the new cts-v is coming for around 60k (will beat the zo6) so I don't understand why you would pay $1 over sticker I mean is not fun to look good in the other guys rearview

Sean 06-27-2008 09:36 PM

i did get the black one. i fucking love the orange, but i think that it might get a little old fast.

425 pony and really loud pipes. modern mopar perfect

spacedog 06-27-2008 09:39 PM

black gets old fast too, i had a black Intimidator SS.
my yellow zo6 was 405hp (2003)

i figured this challenger would be more HP

The 08 zo6 will blow this challenger off the road.

crockett 06-27-2008 09:47 PM

I dunno man it's nice looking car but damn sure not worth 60k+. Besides that once the oil prices drop a little every joe blow in town will have one within a year or two.

Easton 06-27-2008 09:51 PM

$20k over sticker???? wtf? you're crazy if you do it

when i bought one of our cars last year, they wanted $5k over sticker for the SRT8 and i told them to go to hell... all these cars depreciate, so over-paying is nuts

if i could find one maybe, i have never owned a mopar though, if i could find any decent older car, i'd prefer a chevy just for the sheer fact that I know them inside and out like the back of my hand.

I can put a set of chevy smallblock cylinder heads together with my eyes closed.

Seriously.

I did it in an automotive machine shop and after doing it thousands of times its really not that hard. (it's a good bet for a 12 pack of beer though)

This is all before the internets though :helpme

It's only gas money.a hemi is too damn sweet to pass up:thumbsup

my 2007 hemi is only 345 hp :(

buy luckily my 2007 escalade makes up for it with 403 hp :)

BV 06-27-2008 10:11 PM

The 2008 Corvette Z06 is the most powerful production car ever offered by GM. The Corvette Z06 is powered by a 7.0 liter V-8, LS7 engine that develops 377 kW (512 hp) at 6,300 rpm and 637 Nm of torque at 4,800 rpm

BV 06-27-2008 10:14 PM

people have gotten carried away with the "hemi" term anyways, without google half of them wouldn't even know what it refers too

Easton 06-27-2008 10:14 PM

yeah but my fantasy car is the Lotus Esprit, which is actually making a comeback in 2009

i talked to my local North Scottsdale dealer about the twin-turbo non-intercooled V-8 but it overheats too much in the desert during traffic so i had to squash the dream :(

Sean 06-27-2008 10:17 PM

sidenote to it all. im a mopar guy in general, so this car is a little more to me. and i do have classic mopar also

D Ghost 06-27-2008 10:20 PM

no you should not

Violetta 06-28-2008 03:32 AM

I have a Hemi and all I know is that it gets me up my 4WD road w/o having to put it into 4WD and idiots in Civics always try to race me on the interstate (which is SO stupid because I will not think twice before merely driving over them).

Personally spending a DIME over sticker is crazy to me, especially since gas prices may not mean shit to you, they may mean shit to the people you're trying to sell it to later, but if you love the car (always a big mistake, IMO :winkwink: ), you MUST go for it :)

evildick 06-28-2008 09:12 AM

If I had to spend that much for a heavy muscle car, I would rather get something that is going to appreciate in value.

It is a very nice car, but it is so big and heavy that a stock LS1 Camaro will probably beat it in the 1/4 mile.

It was until this

"MILFORD, Michigan ? The wait is over as GM today released official specifications for its 2009 Cadillac CTS-V performance sedan. Its 6.2-liter supercharged V8 will produce 556 horsepower and 551 pound-feet of torque."
