PLAYERS BALL July 10th - DJ QBert and Boogie Nights (live funk band)

Well, this years talent went down to the wire, but in the end we made the best call.

DJ QBert is a DJ who is also an artist. He's definitely in the league of the top 5 DJ's of all time. Lot's who are into old school vinyl DJ's with scratching abilities and "drumming" will be blown away. The rest of you will be blown away too because he's just SICK!

What could be better then having QBert spin a set at the Players Ball? How about 2 sets! He's starting off the night with a 45 minute set, then we have Boogie Nights for a 45 minute set, back to QBert for 45 more, then the band again for 45 minutes.

Now Boogie Nights for those who don't know, they are a party band! This show isn't a rap show, it's old school funk and disco with the perfect vibe our crowd will feed off.

I felt our crowd would dig the combo of the band and legendary DJ mixed with a ton of smoking hot Go Go dancers everywhere. The club is our old venue Prana Lounge, now called Asia at Planet Hollywood.

Anyway, huge thanks to our Main sponsor, PussyCash!

And thanks to the co-sponsors: CECASH, AsianDivaGirls and AEBN.

This party will be the shit! And if you need a reserved table or small sponsorship, hit me on icq or email @
theplayersball at gmail.com

The venue is geared more for supper, has tables and booths everywhere, couple of private suites too. This will be a Players Ball that will be in your fav 5.

Only Players Card holders can get into VIP, or you need to come in with a card holder. Each card is good for up to 3 VIP's.

You got it, Dahling! That last Boogie Nights show was also Vegas, wasn't it?

FYI, D-Money called me for consultation ... it was a difficult choice - we went back and forth for all of 15 seconds and concluded THIS was going to be a GREAT PARTY YET AGAIN :winkwink:

DJ Q-Bert and Boogie Nights are ...

J$TYLE$ APPROVED!

Compdoctor 06-27-2008 07:04 PM

I called you, got the word, then called the agents and did the deal.

Very inspirational chat we had within that 15 seconds.

I've never paid for all drinks.

It's usually, pay for the talent OR pay for drinks.

If my players can't afford a to buy drinks, they're not players.

But I'll buy you a drink playa.

D-Money 06-27-2008 07:25 PM

It's still possible for a surprise guest to show up and get onstage.

Working something out.

You think they have a horse and buggy for us in Vegas?

Cracked crabs maybe?

Sweet choice for the entertainment, you can never go wrong with the funk

D-Money 06-27-2008 08:39 PM

Also, Shock G, the original big nose rapper and his friend Humpty Hump will be at the Players Ball. He's no longer touring with Digital, they're taking a long time out. However, he's got an amazing art collection that he will bring to Vegas and sell during our event. If you like very interesting art from legendary artists, it's worth snagging something. If could be worth something one day, or not, but still, very cool to have.

I know he's got original sketches from his music videos outlining a video he did with Tupac, "Same Song". It was from the movie "Nothing But Trouble" if you're old enough to remember. Interesting piece of hip hop history.

Anyway, always cool to have Shock G in tha house.

D Money you scored top notch entertainment as always!! You never let the Players down!

Parties like the Player's Ball, that people talk about long after they are over, do not happen by accident...

I attended a handful of Player's Ball parties over the years, and had a kick ass time, everytime!

At the last D$ event, Rock the Ball in San Francisco, I decided to step up and help out as a sponsor (since the event was taking place in my area). This provided me with the opportunity to see things from the inside.

The amount of work it takes to put on one of these events is truly amazing. Yet, D$ left no detail unattended to, and believe me there are a ton of details (securing the venue, security, lights, sound, performing artists - such as bands, DJs, and dancers, transportation, lodging, contracts, printing passes, guest lists, backstage catering, stage crew, insurance, etc).

And that is all before the event.

It was quite impressive watching D$ in action on the night of the event.

D$ and KB met up with me during the band sound check a few hours before the show. There are a lot of contracts that have to be signed, checks cut, and many last minute details for the show to go on.

I was stressing a little over the Go-Go stage placement. Originally I wanted the Go-Go pods on the main stage, but that became impractical, with the bands' set-up.

We had to come up with a change of plan solution, and fast. D$ remained calm throughout the process (which included having to deal with the Fire Code and electrical supply issues), and he eventually came up with the concept of placing the main Go-Go stage right in the middle of the floor. Go-Go in the round he called it.

I was skeptical, but in the end, it turned out to be an excellent move, and demonstrated Darren's grace under pressure and out of the box creativity.

Several people commented to me how much they liked that arrangement, and of course I acted as if that was how it was planned all along... :winkwink:

I watched throughout the night as D$ walked through the crowd, ensuring that everyone was having a good time. The vibe that night was incredible.

As I said, great parties like The Player's Ball and Rock the Ball, don't just happen. D-Money knows how to throw a party - that is clear.

However, it also requires the support of Sponsors, since as we all know, pimpin' ain't easy, and it ain't free either.

An investment into The Player's Ball is money well spent. Your name is flashed continuously throughout the night, and you are associated with what is always the best party during whatever event D$ throws a party at.

By collaborating with D$, I was able to even find a way to monetize my sponsorship in the event, by having a photo session with many of the dancers the next day (some of whom were flown in from LA and Las Vegas), which will continue making me money well into the future.

Another cool thing is that there are various levels of Sponsorship, so if you thought the cost was out of reach, think again, and give D$ a call. You'll be glad you did.

Because of my positive show experience, I plan to be a sponsor for select future events as well.

See you all in Vegas next month... :thumbsup

FUCK YEAH!

Excellent post. And it ended up working out just fine with your stage which is awesome.

I've learned years ago not to sweat the small stuff.

In the end, it's just a fun time for us, so I try to have fun while people around me stress!

Thanks again ADG, you saved the Ball in SF with your support to be honest.
