NBA Draft tonight at 7PM. ONeal to Raptors

Thoughts? Whose going to go first? Beaseley (sp?) or Rose?

Jermaine Oneal trade looks pretty good for both teams, as long as Oneal can stay healthy, big if...

oh 7PM EST to clarify

don't understand why toronto would take a player that gets injured so often and his game has been declining since 2005 .......

CyberAgeGary 06-26-2008 09:17 AM

This is great news for Toronto. Think about how many more points Chris Bosh is going to score now.. Toronto is now the 3rd best team in the east behind Boston and Detroit.

Rique 06-26-2008 09:20 AM

As long as fellow Bruins Kevin Love and Russell Westbrook go as lottery picks, I don't care where Beasley, Rose or Mayonaise go in the draft.

Sosa 06-26-2008 09:45 AM

hopefully the pacers can get something with that 17th pick from the raptors. I'm not too impressed with tj ford who has been injured a lot in his career

Socks 06-26-2008 09:49 AM

TJ plays hard, fans loved him here, he plays to the crowd, and when he gets knocked down or a call doesn't go his way etc, he gets fired up and comes right back..

You'll like him.

Great trade for Toronto as we can now see how good Calderon can really be. If Jermaine is healthy I think Bosh and Jermaine will be the best two big men on the same team in the league. With the supporting cast Toronto has I think they could do some damage. :2 cents:

great another injury prone player!!! wtf??

Not like we arent giving up an injury prone player. At least this one will fill a void when he is healthy which, hopefully, is at playoff time.

magicmike 06-26-2008 11:20 AM

A deal can't be finalized until July 1, when Ford's base-year compensation tag comes off the books, and Yahoo and ESPN both said O'Neal and Ford must still pass physicals.

Casa Nova 06-26-2008 11:33 AM

It's a good trade for both sides, they both are taking chances with injury prone players but atleast Toronto is filling a void in there lineup and they still have a capable PG in Calderone to replace TJ.

Socks 06-26-2008 11:52 AM

Anyone can get injured, and sometimes it has nothing to do with the player, just horrible bad luck. Look at Coliacovo for the leafs, he's hardly played, every time he gets back in the lineup he's hurt almost immediately. But I wouldn't even say he's injury prone, just injury plagued.. It happens.

Lets just hope O'Neil can pass the physical

I smoke crack rocks.

most Raps fans are down on the trade - O'Neal is past his prime at 29, a malingerer and whiner who can disrupt team chemistry - giving up the 17th pick hurts - Raps need somebody athletic on the wing and Donte whatshisname probably will be available at 17

the upside though is that if Jermaine comes ready to play and is fairly healthy and can play 70 games him and Bosh will make an imposing front line and the Raps could be one of the best teams in the East

and one of the major reasons Colangelo made the deal is that ONeals enormous cap space will come free in 2 years which coincides with an amazing class of free agents - Lebron, Wade etc

worth the risk I think

Socks 06-26-2008 01:33 PM

I'm comfortable with this trade because Colangelo isn't a dummy, he knows basketball. His whole life has been basketball. He had at least 5 teams interested in TJ Ford, so I'm confident he took the best option available.

And come on, we're talking about the same team (under different management) that traded VINCE CARTER for.... 2 worthless bench players that almost never played, and some other guy who was worse.

TheStout 06-26-2008 01:34 PM

I havent seen or heard or read many people/reports that are against this deal. Everyone I have spoke to are very excited for this deal. He is 29 and that is not past his prime by any stretch.

TheStout 06-26-2008 01:35 PM

Plus all of the GMs knew that Ford wanted out. Getting this much for him is a great deal in my mind. I am confident O'Neil will be healthy after surgery and a long layoff. If he is, Bosh and him will be the best 1-2 big men punch in the league.

VeriSexy 06-26-2008 05:29 PM

A great pickup for the raptors
