Doing software projects for 15 years. I went from coding in Small Talk to Java to C#.

If its large project where you got more then 5+ guys , 12+ months I will not touch PHP

Most these guys back end are in C / C++. PHP is just the web front end.

Do you think Yahoo bot is done in PHP ? how about google GFS ?

Are you so sure about that? I have a friends that work at a few of the places you named. They may use C for backend stuff, but that's not for the actual web stuff, more just cache distribution, throttling and load balancing.
