Online Music Stations GET FUCKED!!!!
"Under new rules set up by the federal government, everyone from the home hobbyist to an online media giant such as Yahoo! owes a tax of sorts -- the "performance royalty." This is a user fee of .0007 cents per listener per song,"
"The first installment is due Sunday. And payments are retroactive. They include obligations that extend back four years, to the date when Congress passed one of several laws regulating the digital transmission of music. Add it up, and Webcasters large and small must account and pay for every copyrighted song they have streamed on their Web server, and every listener, since October of 1998." http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/loc...home-headlines |
Get a fucking clue Congress... how do radio stations work ..!?
It's all about promo. If you think that letting people stream their own mix of 12 Techno bands on shoutcast is a bad thing then you should go back to sniffing some anthrax. Lots of artists make their living from the internet, mp3.com who would never get any exposure otherwise. :321GFY |
I think I seen something on TV that mentioned if their gross revenue is less than 1 million per year then they only have to pay a fee of less than $2000 or something.
