Scary looking fucking bees, wasps...? (pic)

These guys are camped out right outside my front door, working overtime. Every time I leave the house, one of these guys who is like the patrol, bouncer wasp guy or whatever, is all over me... follows me to my car and I have to duck for cover just to get back in my house. Creepy as hell. What should I do? Get a big stick, some RAID...?

WTF dude..

CyberHustler 06-20-2008 04:39 PM

Them yellow jackets will tear your ass up. Spray with RAID and remove the nest and kill the leftover fuckers that come back later to rebuild.

PurrrsianPussyKat 06-20-2008 04:46 PM

If you want to be rid of them, you have to do it at night when they are all present and accounted for.

XPays 06-20-2008 04:57 PM

yikes- i am a nature lover, but .....

Just Mike 06-20-2008 04:58 PM

All wasps will defend their nests, but the Yellow Jackets and hornets are the most aggressive. They can be distinguished from bees by their thin "waists." Bees are thick-waisted. They fold their wings lengthwise when at rest. Like all wasps, yellow jackets prey on a variety of insects and other arthropods. Yellow jackets will also forage on foods that people eat, especially sweets and meats.

They are considered beneficial insects, eating other insects. The yellow jacket colony will remain active for only one summer, after which the queens will fly away to start more colonies. The remaining ones, die at the end of the summer, the nest is not reused.

Was scared to death of these things where I grew up in Washington.

Don't think I've ever seen a wasp in Arizona, only scorpions and rattlesnakes.. lucky me. :disgust

DefaultMan 06-20-2008 05:37 PM

Spray the Raid then RUN!!

Try not to scream while you are running :winkwink:

geedub 06-20-2008 05:38 PM

my parents live outside of a small town named dundee, wi (it was on that abc home make over bullshit you might know it lol) and they have the craziest fucking bees i have ever seen. there are these solid black wasps that are gigantic along with the standard hornets, wasps, and those big fuzzy fuckers.. i hate those things

Spunky 06-20-2008 05:48 PM

Wait until night and use the raid spray..it goes like 15 feet so you wont be near them

DBS.US 06-20-2008 06:32 PM

Make a soda bottle trap and see how many you can kill before the big battle,:winkwink:

I learned this tip from a pest control expert:

Cover yourself in sugar water and punch or kick the nest furiously until they die.

Redrob 06-20-2008 07:06 PM

That is funny.

As I recall, they are set off by the carbon dioxide in you breath. If you don't breathe on them and don't get too close, they will just watch you come and go.

If you choose to hit them with bug killer, be sure to get the aresol can that shoots 10 to 15 feet. Do it and run like hell. Come back later and knock down the nest.

I remember being told that if you paint the underside of your eves light blue, they won't nest there because they think they are exposed to the elements.

lol, I'll get right on that. thanks :)

farkedup 06-20-2008 07:06 PM

yeah do it at night and if you're still scared drive the car up to the door, if you have power windows put it down about 2-3" bomb the nest like mad then roll the window up.... I don't suggest trying ti without power windows....

Personally I don't mind these yellow jackets they do eat other insects so as long as you don't fuck with the bees you have fewer bugs around biting you.
