Kid Rock - Losing His Money Because Of Illegal Downloading Or Because He Sucks? Poll
Personally I think he sucks and his 15 minutes of fame are up. Who still listens to his crappy music?

sorry : )

the thing with musicians not making as much money from their albums/releases is that then they have to go back to old skool and bring out some awesome live tours to pull those numbers back up in their paychecks
the singers/performers who basically suck without the whole 'recording crew' in tow just won't fair so well in the tour arena, and will hopefully be discouraged and leave the industry since they can't make the money with their crap could illegal downloading actually equal a reprisal of QUALITY in the music industry??!! :upsidedow I reckon that would be a nice side effect :2 cents: |

I don't understand the music industry. They missed the boat here. They soaked us on LP Records, 8 Tracks, Cassettes, and then CDs. In the end, what they are really selling is a computer file - not any different than the content the adult industry sells.
Instead of getting on the boat and selling us music files in MP3 format online, they didn't even bother with it and other free services did it for them - selling stolen content and not kicking any money back to the music industry. And still these people don't get it. I use Yahoo Music Match to stream my music. It costs me $70 a year and I can stream unlimited music all I want, and if I want to download it and put it on my MP3 player on a CD it costs me $1 per song. Oddly enough Shaina Twain doesn't have her music in Music Match where I can pay for it, but she has it all up on You Tube where I can watch it for free. So I can listen to her music on You Tube but I can't buy it. |

Point exactly. Music is enjoyed better in a live atmosphere. And it also proves if the artist has real talent and doesn't rely on waveform editors. :thumbsup Most of the music industry is fucked up anyway. It needs a recession. :1orglaugh |
ugh he sucks
|
Well it doesnt help that he cant embrace technology. I went to pay for his new song on itunes and it's not available. None of his songs are.
I think the vast majority of consumers would pay to download a song versus stealing it (as itunes becoming the largest music retailer proves) but kind of hard to do that when you dont make your music available legally. I mean who buys a CD anymore? Except maybe getting Mom the new Neil Diamond for mothers day. |
I like him. :thumbsup Pro enters thread is 10 9 8 :winkwink:
|
|
i think part of his problem is that he has changed his style so many times. He is talentend in many styles but I loved the Devil without a cause album, yet now the mofo is doing balads with Hank williams junior, not exactly my cup of tea.
|
He had a good run..
|
Sure let me buy it some way but do not force me to sit through a live performance. Typically aside from the entertainment value of them on stage, music quality sucks ass live. Concerts are highly over rated, over priced and unless you live in one of the few areas that gets even OK bands to appear you would be shit out of luck.
|
A lot of what was said about Chris Rock's music and the reason he's losing sales could be said about the porn industry and why webmaster's sales are down.
you guys should be on his side. He has a huge fan base and sells out concerts.. but his shit is just not good enuff to pay for :P |
Kid Rock was a fad, just like Vanilla Ice, The Spice Girls, and Eminem.

People make such dopey comments here all the time. Kid Rock whether you like him or not has been around a long time and keeps having success after success. He's talented because he can sing, play guitar, rap, write songs, and is a real entertainer. I am not even much of a fan myself, but it's easy to recognize talent when you see it.
|
He would have a lot more money if there was no illegal downloading.

Actually how could you place both kid rock and Eminem in the same category as Vanilla ice and spice girls. |

Doubt its the downloading. Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) released The Slip completely free, yet he still makes money via shows.
As far as why he's losing money, I have this theory: 1) His fans from when he was rapcore are gone because he went soft and went to country music. Alot of them do not want anything to do with him because his new stuff is country. 2) His current country target crowd isn't accepting him due to his earlier career... they don't view him as pure enough to warrant their listening since he had created "Satan's music" earlier on in his career. You cannot really pull off being a badass in country much unless you're either Cash or Hank Williams Jr. |
he sucks
