Not too keen on, or things that moderately annoy me..

Fasterfox isn't compat, boo. I've needed the page load timer a few times since upgrading. Definitely miss it. I'm sure it will update soon.

I'm not too fond of the new address bar changes, its URL suggestion methods are .. weird

It isn't remembering cookies for some sites, while others it's remembering cookies from my 2.x install.

Pages load slower then Firefox 2.x with Fasterfox enabled.

Things I like...

It isn't IE.

It isn't IE.

It isn't IE.

It isn't IE.

and did I mention?

It isn't IE.

I love it...

It fucks up watching flash movies.

Will cause more surfers to get annoyed due to lack of youtube fix and switch.

I like the address bar with quick bookmark star, also address bar is always shown even on windows its not supposed to be - its cool. Most visited button is nice although haven't used it yet.

Still crashes once in a while on heavy JS'ed pages :(

it doesnt remember cookies from other sites, love fireftp

OK, here's my deal...
I tried it out on my Mac and from the beginning, it seriously kicked ass for speed. One of the things that really irked me was how the address bar worked for auto-complete, but once I got used to it I realized that it was smarter than the last version's auto-complete feature once it learned by habits.

I'm actually not too much of a fan of the darker window and tabs but I'm more of a function-over-form type.. yeah wtf am I doing running a mac when I don't care how the apps look, huh?

I definitely prefer Firefox over IE, but here are a few things that annoy me:

-For some fucking reason after the browser has been open for a bit its stops playing streaming media (flash videos mostly) and I either have to close it, or open the media in IE.

-It is absolutely a resource hog when someone like myself has 20+ tabs open at any given time. I have to restart the browser a couple of times per day to regain the speed, otherwise it freezes up every 30 minutes or so.

the smart address bar pissed me off with all the nats programs I need to hop in and out off, but then it learned the patterns, and can start with say nats.domain or domain and it sitll gets my most entered page, not the most visited on top which is rad.

ive gotten used to the tabes new look and now love it.

only thing i dont like, the bottom bar is a little too dark, couple shades lighter would be great imo.

starpimps 06-19-2008 11:27 PM

it didnt handle multiple 30+ tabs hat well sorta froze and mirrored all the tabs to be the same.

I love that is so much faster, but I don't love that many of my favorite plug-ins are not supported in v3 yet.

:Oh crap

Ayla_SquareTurtle 06-20-2008 12:40 AM

I HATE the new URL bar. I downloaded an addon to make it more like the old one.

Also hate the colors, too dark as someone else mentioned.

But the speed is great.

I can't drag images into photoshop anymore. Normally on FF2 I could just click an image in a gallery then drag it into photoshop for cropping, but it doesn't work any more. :(

That is my only pet peeve. The rest is fucking excellent. Especially the URL bar, makes life easier.

strange history list for me....

That's the one that pissed me off too. So now you gotta right click the image, "Copy Image", then in photoshop ctrl+n and paste. Was nice just dragging it in.

The new address bar is growing on me.. slowly.

As for memory, here's a quick one so that firefox "releases" memory when you minimize the browser:

Quote:

Code:

  1. Start Firefox (yeah, I know? duh.)
  2. type ?about:config? in the address bar and hit enter (don?t type the double-quotes)
  3. type ?config.trim_on_minimize? (again, not the double-quotes) into the Filter field. Odds are, you won?t have this preference but we should check first.
        1. If you DO have the preference, make sure it is set to true
        2. If you do NOT have the preference, add it
              1. Right click anywhere in the preference list and select New -> Boolean
              2. Preference name should be ?config.trim_on_minimize?
              3. Select true for the value
  4. Close Firefox and then reopen it.
