Why do people tattoo their own name on themselves?
 

It seems recently I have seen a bunch of people (both in real life and in pictures) that have their own names tattooed on their body. Are they afraid they are going to forget it?

It has something to do with their egos Im sure

I had a friend who's brother used his name when he got pulled over so when Bobby got pulled he always end up in jail as his brother was using his name, he thought it would help if he (Bobby) tattooed his name on himself so the cops wouldn't keep thinking he was his brother.

My name isn't Richard. When I was in the Marines we were all known by our last name; We never used first names. Everyone knew my first name started with "R" because everything I owned was stamped "Buss, R". We went out to a strip club, got drunk, and I was introduced to a stripper. My buddy wasn't sure of my first name, and introduced me as "Richard". I was drunk, so I didn't correct him.

Six months later I ended up marrying that stripper.

Twenty years later I'm still called Richard.

Seems dumb to me, but everyone has their own tastes. If anything, I'd get a nickname tattooed rather than my real name.

I have a couple of friends of mine that were in the Marines and they still to this day call their Marine buddies by their last names or by their nick names. There was a Sgt. who's last name was Rocco and they all call him Sgt. Rock. They have been out for 15 years, but he is still, Sgt. Rock...hell even I call him Sgt. Rock. I don't think I even know his first name.

yeah, it's like a tag for the bitches to know who they fuck with :)

It's the only name you can tattoo on yourself that you can be pretty sure you won't end up wanting to get removed!

my brother and i have our last name tattooed on our arms along with our cousins and some of their cousins and brothers so that way if we ever wind up in jail together we have instant gang

I never understood anyone tattooing their own names on themselves.
I have four names tattooed on me: my mom and dad and my kids. My mom's name is tattooed on my arm (in her handwriting) and when I used to bartend people customers would try and be clever and call that name to get my attention. They could never understand why I didnt answer them.
