My Computer Blew Up!

Really, I restarted it and heard a snap, crackle and pop. My hard drive went out hard with no warning.

Had to do a fresh install using the slipstream technique of adding sp3 and burning a bootable CD. So far I have recovered a lot from my back hard drive.

I had to do a lot of work arounds just to get my computer up and running again.

That Windows Genuine Validation is a bitch.

I'm sorry to hear that... but glad to hear that it's back up:-D Wanna work as our tech? We need someone like you! jk jk haha
Our techs do data recovery all the time and I think they are sick of it lol

I'm lucky because in over 10 years of owning computers I've never had any hardware problems.

ProducerCashDave 06-19-2008 01:59 PM

ouch sorry to hear that

I have a feeling one day my laptopis gonna explode or something one day, the shit gets so fuckin hot I can probably cook something on it!

pornguy 06-19-2008 02:03 PM

I'm about to try a reinstall if other things don't work this evening on my desktop. Fucking things went into screen saver, and wouldn't come back. Now I can't boot vista into regular mode only safemode. So i'm troubleshooting through there. So fun lol

That is very lucky.

TheSenator 06-19-2008 04:58 PM

Damn....I think I lost my ICQ history

TheSenator 06-19-2008 05:05 PM

Already got all my email back and ICQ history. I also managed to save my StatsRemote. That would have been a pain in the ass to add all my affiliates again.

I figured out my problem, my nvidia video card drivers for some reason. Worked fine once I deleted them, but came right back when I installed the newest ones. Time to find a fix

StaceyJo 06-19-2008 08:06 PM

Having a computer problem is so sucked up, you will lost files: some important files, money for no work and for the maintenance... yeah try xp than vista...

fangtastic 06-20-2008 06:45 AM

Congrats on getting most of your data back!

huda 06-20-2008 07:13 AM

Lucky you! I once wasted 700 Euro on a "really professional" HD recovery, and they couldn't recover a single file...

Marky333 06-20-2008 07:23 AM

you got the virus "Porn.W32.exe" ... you need psihiater help to remove it and cure your computer ;)

G-Rotica 06-20-2008 08:10 AM

I use a usb hd. Back up my laptop everynight before i shut it down.

G.A.F 06-20-2008 08:20 AM

Great you know how to recover all your data and don't have to spend a lot of money paying someone else to fix it. :):):)

Indeed! If that happened to me, I'll be crazy looking for a tech guy to fix it!

TheSenator 06-20-2008 10:20 AM

I think it is all the video encoding I am doing that is killing my hard drives.

Everyday, I do at least 6 videos encodes from WMV or MPG to FLV. I need a hard drive that can handle that kind of work.
