sig spots - what are they worth?

Just out of interest, what is a sig spot worth?
How do you calculate that in terms of post count etc?

Thanks in advance

Good question, I'll be watching this one :thumbsup

If they are worth it, what types of programs, products, services see the best return?

sicone 06-19-2008 08:28 AM

post count is part of it, but also type of posts... do they get read or skipped over

They are good for branding, if you're talking about ref code commission then they are worthless. Now go click on my sigs

People used to sell their sigs for thousands of dollars per month here.
It's how the buy/sell forum came to be.

I'm looking to buy the lot out for July :) and you would not beleve what some people think they are worth

Will Black 06-21-2008 05:54 AM

Probably something, but not lots of somethings.

Jens Van Assterdam 06-21-2008 06:03 AM

Depends on the individual your buying from.
For example: I had the GirlsGoneWild banner in my sig and i was refeering a lot of webmasters to it, so i made a good dollar from and iam still making of it. I woudnt sell mine cheaper as what i have made so far just from referals.
People who post a lot (like me) get a serious amount of page impressions per day, so the sig space your buying gets seen xxx - xx,xxx times a day.
From someone unknown who doesnt post more then 10 posts a week, the sig is mostly useless. But when someone like SHAP or JUICY would sell his sig, its a different game. I think you get the point...

They are worth whatever people are willing to pay for them ....

a while back when it was sig mania a couple made some nice change for their sigs ... ( myself included ) .............

Now I'd be fine with $100 a month ( beer fund ) for a sig.

Interested? ... hit me up :)

They're not worth more than $250 unless you're a famous board personality.

There used to be a time they went for a lot of money. A lot of sponsors were buying sigs back then to try it out. Most sponsors stopped buying after they realized it's not worth it at all.

Ofcourse they're worth it when you happen to get a whale because of a cheap sig, but generally one signature won't make much difference. If you have a lot of money you can buy multiple sigs for a lot of money (like TCG did back in the days). That'll get you a lot of exposure.

Anyway since you're going to try it out, you'll see for yourself :thumbsup

I've made almost $2,000 off of mine last 3 months. When you have something good to offer and don't just jerk around every post you make people will actually look and signup.

Bro Media - BANNED FOR LIFE 06-21-2008 07:16 AM

All depends on whats in the signature. If you're flying something saturated nobody is gonna click, but if its new or something, you will get eyes.

I flew a duke dollars sig a while back when they wern't SO saturated and not everyone was a signed up, and got 3-4 signups under me in 1 month.

IllTestYourGirls 06-21-2008 08:10 AM

my sig has made me some good change. I dont think I would sell it for what I would need to ask for it.
