Rock fans - Check out the new Guns & Roses!

I've been waiting for this for a long long long time!

Nine purported "mastered, finished" tracks from Guns N' Roses' 14-years-in-the-making album "Chinese Democracy" were leaked online yesterday (June 18) prompting a quick cease-and-desist from the band's handlers and the removal of the links.

Six of the songs have already leaked in one unfinished form or another: "Better," "The Blues," the title track, "Madagascar," "IRS" and "There Was a Time." But these versions appear to be much further along on the path toward completion, and feature new touches like organ and tambourine on "IRS" and a beefed-up chorus with multi-tracked vocals on "Madagascar."

The three previously unheard songs are "Rhiad and the Bedouins," "If the World" and a track whose title is unknown.

"Rhiad," which was played live by Guns N' Roses in 2001 and 2002, is a pounding rocker with a trademark down-and-dirty main guitar riff and a flashy solo. "If the World" is a head-spinning blend of flamenco guitar, industrial synth tones, bluesy piano licks and Rose at the top of his vocal register, while the unnamed track is an even more unusual melange of piano-led crooning, orchestral bombast and a serene instrumental outtro.

"Chinese Democracy" was last on Interscope's release schedule in March 2007. In late March of this year, the Axl Rose-led band signed a new management deal with industry heavyweights Irving Azoff and Andy Gould and began what it described as "negotiations" with Interscope to release the album.

But even if its release is drawing near, "Chinese Democracy" will likely go down as the album with the most troubled birth in rock history. Work began on it way back in 1994, and since then, Rose has burned through a reported $13 million in production costs as well as every lone original member of the group.

The endless delays reached comic levels this spring, when soft drink manufacturer Dr Pepper offered to send a free can of the drink to "everyone in America" (excluding ex-GNR members Slash and Buckethead) if "Chinese Democracy" arrives anytime during the calendar year 2008.

Dr. Pepper has a sense of humor, too? Nice.

Superterrorizer 06-19-2008 01:39 AM

Yeah, I've been waiting 15 years for the least talented member of the band to release an album. As soon as people realize that Steven Adler's drums _MADE_ the g'n'r sound, the better off we'll all be. The whole Use your Illusion bullshit with that faggot Matt Sorum was a joke, and anything that tard Axl does on his own is most definitely NOT gnr.

Pornwolf 06-19-2008 01:45 AM

You are nuts to think that drums made the sound.

No way bro. I can't even believe you said that.

Really? Then you haven't ever listened to any GNR with Adler. The difference between him and that woman drummer they got for Use your Illusions onward is audible.

Superterrorizer 06-19-2008 01:55 AM

If you think Slash's bullshit "les paul with half wah plugged into a JBM" made the GNR sound, you're wrong. Who made GNR? Izzy, Duff and Steven, absofuckingLOUTELY hands down. Any retard can make that guitar sound, any retard can play the pentatonic scale left right and sideways. It takes a real drummer to work that shit. Too bad they kicked Adler out the band instead of Axl.

Pornwolf 06-19-2008 02:11 AM

I don't think we really cared about any of the songs she played on. The last records that hit hard were with Matt Sorum(sp?).

Either way, sure Adler added some great playing, but it was always the songwriting and melodies and Axl's voice that kept it going. You can easily replace a drummer, you can't replace Axl.

Pornwolf 06-19-2008 02:15 AM

I don't know if you know this but the rest of the guys have silently quit their other bands and are rumored to be coming back together for this.

I predict they will get back together cause at the end of the day it's about the $$ for them now.

I was talking about Matt Sorum when I said it was a woman drummer. The guy is about as fucking BORING as drummers get.

Fill that shit Matt Sorum, do you still taste Ian Astbury's smegma?
.

As far as songwriting goes, WHAT? Nobody in GNR is/was a poet. And I quoth:

"I see your sister in her Sunday dress
She's out to please
She pouts her best
She's out to take
No need to try
She's ready to make
It's so easy, easy
When everybody's tryin' to please me baby
It's so easy, easy
When everybody's tryin' to please me"

Yes, we're talking QUALITY lyrics there...

Please listen to the differences between any song pre illusion, and any song with that fag drummer, it's apples and oranges. Axl may as well not even be in the band as far as I am concerned.

Do you play an instrument? Obviously I'm hearing something you are not hearing and that's totally fine, I'm not here to tell you what to listen to, but I can say in no uncertain terms that the differences between AFD and UYI are uncomparable, it's like two different bands. And I'm sure Axl's ego has a lot to do with that, but GNR died the day Adler was kicked from the band.

You can get them signed for about $1k but it wont be on a Gibson Les Paul and none of the signatures are on the plastic guard like the others.

What I'm saying is a les paul studio is WORTH 1k. You paid 2k for signatures.

Abbie 06-19-2008 02:54 AM
