File -> Export -> Save as PST.
Then, remember to save your address book.

Stop using Outlook and use Gmail... then you don't have to ever worry about your email again!

Except when it's down or otherwise inaccessible.

Use a ghost program

You have problems with Google going down? Because over the last 6 years I can count on one hand the times i've actually had problems with G-Mail that I can remember.

Did you know that Google has an option to use your domain as well?

4 times it's been down when I was away from my system, and I wasn't able to query it for a couple of hours at a time. It cost me quite a bit of time to track down new clients while I was not at my home office. I opted to setup and use webmail on these important domains. Non-business shit, Google's good enough. :)

I use IMAP so the emails stay on the server. That way it's the same from any computer and when I switch servers I can transfer them to the new server.

In other news: Fuck. Metacrawler email is gonna be gone in 23 days. I've had that since the 90s. :(

If you're gonna use a rent-by-the-minute Zango'd Celeron in Latin America to access anything more than non-registration sites, you're gonna have some interesting issues.

My problem is that I have at least 1000 emails over the past 2 years on Outlook that I would like to save to reference at later times

Make the PST. You then reinstall Outlook, "File -> Import -> PST -> Point to File." Magic!

If you wanted to, you could technically make a filter to forward all mail to 'new account here', but that's kinda pointless as a starting point. When you get all setup again, you might look into it.

grrr I'm trying to import the pst file and it is not working.....

Zuzana Designs 07-02-2008 05:23 AM

no messages can be found in this folder. or another aplication is running that has the required files open ...
