The problem with herpes is that a condom provides even less protection for this disease than it does for others.... as it's a disease that is transmitted through skin to skin contact.

And while flare ups can sometimes occur very rarely (once a year or less) there is a 7 or so day 'incubation period' that you can still contract herpes, without visibly being able to see them. Otherwise, you can only contract herpes during the flareup, which occurs 7 or so days after the incubation period.

Also keep in mind that herpes can be contracted and can inflame not only around a vagina and on a penis, but also around the anus, nutsack, inner thigh AND mouth.

It was valiant of her to let you know about it quickly before anything got too serious, but it's now probably in your best interest to end things... Really it depends on if she is shedding or not. You would want to avoid sex during a break out. Unless she has a raging case of the herps you should be ok. your immune system may react differently to the virus but the majority of people with herps show no signs at all.
