EUROPEANS, SOUTH AMERICANS, OTHERS - Do you think Canada is roughly the same as USA?
Someone in another thread said that canada = usa to many people who live elsewhere in the world..
Do you see Canadians as the same as Americans? Curious? And either way, how do we differ? |
Um yes you are North Americans.
As for do we they see Canada as USA, doubt it. It is more like a cleaner more polite US light around the borders though. |
"canada - our friendly but backward neighbours"
|
No I did not think Canadians are the same as the Americans, I always tend to associate them with the French
|
I would say that most of the world doesn't know much about Canada.
It is considered a rich country, more socially advanced (free healthcare etc) and having less internal problems than the US, and surprisingly totally quiet when it comes to international politics (you'd expect such a big country to play a bigger role worldwide). |

A few years ago when I was spending a lot of time in the US I found out that the most gorgeous strippers in US nightclubs came from Canada. I guess they have a lot of more pretty girls in Canada compared to the US.
|
Interesting question actually. I'll be sure to ask some folks in Singapore and Thailand when I go visit next month.
I'm curious to know as well. |

Haha Judge Judy on that list, aint that some shit and an ego blow to numbers 14 to 20, and hell probably makes Britney nervous too.
Though that list seems wrong, how old is it or who generated it? Example I would expect to see Miley or whatever he name is on there. |
When I think about Canada, I think ... maybe the lowest profile rich country.
I think that people only remember that Canada exists when they have to talk about it for some reason, on the other hand, we cannot ever forget about US, we wakeup in the morning listening some US band on the radio, even if it is some Canadian girl like Alanis, Avril or Nelly Furtado, damn I could swear that they are all US citizens, not because I think that Canada=USA, It's just that we are so used to be flooded with US stuff that we automatically think that all English word without accent comes out from US people. Then we ear on the news that the US just started a new war, so I walk in the street and I see some kid eating some fries or oreos and drinking a coke. Lunch time, canadian lunch ? No, MacDonalds, hell yeah !! :1orglaugh So let's turn on the TV to get some fresh news, guess what ? Some wacko killed some kids and teachers on a school at USA, who's the blame ? GTA4 :1orglaugh Breaking news ... Some guy on a Canadian school made 10 hostages, local police says that the suspect was identified with the help of cctv cams as an US citizen ... |

no
not at all the canadian ppl ive met are way more like europeans then american |
Albertans are not like Canadians from Toronto, and Anglos from Toronto are not like the French from Quebec. Nunavut is also special.
Vancouver and Seattle are sisters. In the US, Boston is not Cedar Rapids, and Beverly Hills is not Bakersfield. |
Canadians are more like Europeans.
Australians/Kiwi's are more like American's (well US Americans) |
People in Toronto consider themselves to be the true Canadians, but they are the least Canadian of all Canadians in Canada, since they are more recent immigrants and much less traditional than their fellow countrymen from Quebec, Winnipeg, Alberta or northern territories.
In America you got the same problem, recent immigrants in New York or internal migrants in California consider themselves to be the true Americans and the rest of the population to be "alien". |
I know whenever i meet canadians on holiday they are always pissed because everyone thinks their american.
