ROCK THE BALL - Shouts and Reviews (pics welcomed)
 

Huge props to Cybernet Expo for pulling off a fun show in an amazing city! The crabs are now safe to come out of their hiding, I know I had my fill.

Anyway, just wanted to say thanks to everyone who came out and rocked with us. The sponsors we're awesome,

Here's my quick review. I don't always give reviews of my own events, but once in a while I'll let you know what I think. It's only our 2nd Rock The Ball, so I'm still tweaking it.

Normally when we throw these events, we try to book "legends" to perform. Even Metal Skool last year can be considered "legendary" for a cover band. This time I had a tough decision to make, Players Ball or Rock The Ball? AsianDivaGirls hit me up right away and offered his help, he said he had this local band with a tranny lead singer that does live mash up rock tunes. After looking at their links online, I wasn't overly impressed, though I could tell they had great potential. I had asked some locals in the Bay about them, they all said they're awesome, they totally rock. ADG said he'd take care of the band (backstage sushi and everything) and he'd bring a ton of smoking hot asian models to be our Go Go dancers for the night. Then he told me he had a bad ass stage he wanted to bring too.

So...

I took a risk, put lot's of trust in ADG and I must say, he came through BIG TIME!

The venue couldn't be any closer to the hotel, I definitely found the best possible location with super cool ownership and employees. The vibe of the Red Devil Lounge was super intimate, upstairs and downstairs, nice stage, everyone had a view, always easy to get a drink, no VIP area, excellent DJ and live band. The stage ADG built looked like a mini version of Saturday Night Fever, placed perfectly in the center of the room, everyone could see the girls all night. Some of them were off the charts smoking hot. When the band started to play, the venue started rockin'. These guys/gals can fuckin' rock! The would play some heavy guitar riffs, like the Cult, with lyrics of another rock tune. Once in a while they'd actually do that songs lyrics too. The owner of the club told me the acoustics were incredible, that if I didn't have a band perform it would be a shame. The sound was perfect.

It was a full venue, not over packed, perfect attendance. I'm really happy everyone came out for it. I even saw people get totally shit faced (people that don't normally get drunk). KB was in old school form!

Ashley Fires was an amazing co-host for me, way better then having KB on my arm. Though KB does give amazing mic.

Overall I'll give this event an A+. I can't really see any flaws with it. I'n super critical of my own events, I notice all little details, but this one was stress free and super fun.

The people made the event what it was, very cool to hang with everyone this time.

Really wish I could have made this one. Sounds like a kick ass party and I really want to meet that ADG dude, and maybe 10 or 12 of his models too.

The band was MUCH better than I was expecting... everyone in that place was watching the band and getting into the show. I heard nothing but good comments from everyone who saw them play. And seriously, where else could someone hear Billie Jean vocals sung to the music of Smells Like Teen Spirit. Classic.... lol

Hahaha.... well, if you missed this event then all I can say is you missed a fantastic concert.

That Rock the Ball was off the hook! I could not stop dancing. Everytime I went to go sit down I found myself up dancing again.

Smash Up Derby brought the perfect amount of energy to the party and the ADG gals were the cherries on top.

Kudos for another hit D-Money!

By a guy in a corset looking like a drag queen... That was FANTASTIC and a hell of a stage show also!! The band looked as unusal as the music and it all worked perfectly..

I think I've finally recovered from the Rock the Ball Event (and my eight girl photo shoot the next day - June 12th - which also happened to be my birthday)...

Thanks so much for the kind words Darren, and for having faith in me, and for the other sponsors for stepping up to the plate. A lot of work goes into putting on these shows, but it's all worth it when people come together to make it a first-class party, and the attendees have a good time.

When we first started talking about AsianDivaGirls being a sponsor for Rock the Ball a few months ago, it was mostly due to my desire to ensure that the CyberNet Expo attendees were treated to a good time during there visit to my area (as many of you know, I am an independent operator of my own network of Asian niche exclusive content sites here in the Bay Area, and I'm neither a Sponsor nor an Affilate - BTW, that may change in the coming months).

By all reports, it seems everyone had a great time in San Francisco and at Rock the Ball. The weather could not have been better, the band totally kicked ass, and the girls rocked too. Great pick on the venue and the DJ, D-Money.

Finally, it was nice seeing so many familiar faces again, and meeting lots of new people for the first time. The crowd vibe was great!!! San Francisco is a special place, and I feel as if many of you took a piece of San Francisco home with you in your spirit, and left a little bit of your heart here in our little City by the Bay...

If you are in the Bay Area, and want to see Smash-Up Derby LIVE tomorrow (Sunday, June 15th) - they will be playing on the main stage at the San Jose Gay Pride Festival...

D$, give me a holla about AsianDivaGirls sponsoring the band for the Las Vegas X-Biz show next month, either as an opener or a headliner.

Smash-Up Derby has a lot more material...and there are sure to be many people that would like to see the band again in a different venue (they play a different show each time), or who would enjoy seeing them for the first time if they missed the San Francisco "Rock the Ball" show!
