So..its time for a new car...time to go green??

getting rid of the gas guzzling S Class....time to go green? or just say fuck it and get a new S Class? :pimp

I like lots of room

Chris 06-11-2008 07:14 AM

why not go green?
they make some nice hybrid cars
even the suv's are nice :)

Tat2Jr 06-11-2008 07:17 AM

If you're going to go green wait about 2 years. What's green then will make today's "green" look like gas guzzlers, so I say go with the new s class, and then go green in 2010 or 2011.

MaDalton 06-11-2008 07:45 AM

theres an S-Class diesel - 30 mpg instead of 12. and more torque than the gas version

96ukssob 06-11-2008 07:47 AM

The lexus LS460 Hybrid is nice. Dosent get to much better gas milage, but if your looking to go green, its a good luxury choice imo

hybrids are overpriced right now, a smaller car that gets 30mpg would be financially more economical IMO.
diesel is a good choice but i bet they're over priced right now too

TubeTitans_SusieQ 06-11-2008 08:10 AM

S class lol

Scott McD 06-11-2008 08:11 AM

Personally i'd just say "fuck it"... :2 cents:

ADL Colin 06-11-2008 08:50 AM

tranza 06-11-2008 08:52 AM

Hollywood Horwitz 06-11-2008 02:25 PM

hybrids are gonna be dated once the true EV cars come out in 3-5 years.

F-U-Jimmy 06-11-2008 02:35 PM

Hybrids would be great if they didn't cost $10,000 more than the std versions. If they actually did the MPG they print on the sticker and didn't produce more pollution during manufacture.

My Ford Escape Hybrid was supposed to do 33 mpg on the freeway and 36 in town. I did an 800 mile round trip to Vegas and got 26 mpg traveling at 69 mph on cruise control. In town I managed 22 MPG. Fuck that my Porsche does 26 on average :321GFY:321GFY

When a car company develops a vehicle that runs off a sunlight rechargeable Photo Voltaic system or a hydrogen fuel cell, stores enough energy to do 200 miles a day and can carry 4 people plus 4 suitcases in a spacious cabin. Then and only then will they have a viable alternative to Gas ?

BradM 06-11-2008 02:42 PM

I love Honda hybrids

The Duck 06-11-2008 04:14 PM

whatever happened to that water fueled car? Oh right they killed the inventor.

bdld 06-11-2008 04:41 PM

hybrid versions of regular cars cost more, the gas savings are so small that it'll take at least 5-10 years to begin saving money.

VIPimp 06-11-2008 05:27 PM

Go with the new S class :thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup

Lykos 06-11-2008 05:47 PM

Thinking about S diesel class myself these days, can't be bad choice:)

k0nr4d 06-11-2008 05:56 PM

Spunky 06-11-2008 07:23 PM

Violetta 06-12-2008 06:41 AM

why not`??

rowan 06-12-2008 07:12 AM

Australia did some deal to crank out hybrid Camrys here. One commentator speculated that they were pitching at the wrong market, since green car buyers generally want people to KNOW they're green. A hybrid Camry looks the same as a petrol one.

(Personally, I wouldn't mind a hybrid, but I'm not the slightest bit interested in letting everyone else know about it... I'd want mine to look normal...)

When it is actually a good car instead of this shitty 30mpg or 40mpg crap they tout as amazing, which it's not. 70mpg, 100mpg.. then you're talkin.

Better off replacing your lightbulbs, buying a new refrigerator, dishwasher, clothes washer/dryer. Those have made *actual* advances in just the last 5 years or so.

Bama 06-12-2008 08:27 AM

I say buy what you want and drive as much and as often with as few people in your car as fits your lifestyle.

"Going-Green" is just another term dreamed up by a marketing firm so people can feel better about themselves.

Ecologist are worried about the effects of what we do today and have no concern about the far reaching future. I bet if they were around millions of years ago they'd have bitched about rotting dinosaur corpses laying around and T-Rex shit stinking up the place. Thankfully they weren't and we have a vast oil supply today.

Nobody likes to see forest fires burning and they always make the news - but how rarely is it reported that those same fires actually help to develop new growth.

Your exhaust fumes might very well be the source of energy millions of years from now!

Play on playa.... Get something purty.

G.A.F 06-12-2008 08:56 AM

With the price of gas and diesel nowardays, I still don't understand why electric golf carts aren't on the streets. They are smaller and good for short distances...

I saw in Florence, Italy, a few of small electic cars. They look like eggs, but they can take you around cheaperly. :winkwink:
I'd like to post a pic, but I don't have it on the net, just in my pc.

dready 06-12-2008 08:56 AM

Have your cake and eat it too... S Class diesel.
