I know someone that got divorced over WOW. She would come home from work and play until she went to bed. She ignored her kids and husband and did nothing but play the game all the time. Eventually it drove a wedge through her family and she left her husband. Two months after they separated she had a guy she met in WOW move in with her. They, of course, broke up a few months later and he moved back in with his mom ( he was 19 and she is 35 with three kids). It is pretty sad.

And this is why I always said my boyfriend will be someone who is a gamer himself. :)

Not a bad idea. With this person she was never really a gamer, but she has always been an addictive person. When she was in high school she was thin and fit and then shortly after graduation she got pregnant and started eating junk food and has never stopped so she got real big. She got into scrap booking and would buy and sell hundreds of dollars a week worth of stamps on ebay and spend every waking moment doing it. She left that behind and got into Disney stuff. So she had to have the toys, and movies and every collectible and had to visit all the parks and she even has Disney tattoos. Wow was something new to her and she got into it with the same zeal as everything else. How she is, she better hope she never gets into drugs.

I'm wow free for about 1 year and 4 months.
I still catch myself trolling old guild forums and wow related stuff. It's really addictive, i cannot forget that pixel world and my pixeled cartoons.

For example, i quit smoking year ago, after 7 years of lot's cigarettes, and i don't need it anymore. I don't search smoking news, i don't watch prices of cigarettes.

But with WOW, i still catch myself thinking about this game. I feel like a fucking drug addict :)

You'd be surprised how many of their stories actually hit mainstream news because they just seemed too real.
Other news agencies even get fooled.

Gaming with your partner is just as bad.. I have friends who were always outside together, always going places etc.. Then they moved in together, got married, bought TWO xboxes, TWO tv's so they could play online together at the same time. They wouldn't even stop playing when friends came over, just yell and laugh and scream at the TV. You'd try to talk to them, and they would pretend to listen while listening to someone else on their headsets.

Then they'd blame each other for every single problem they had, had garbage overflowing in their kitchen, 30+ empty wine bottles on the counter.. fuck they'd keep garbage on the balcony just to avoid walking downstairs or down the hall. Ordering food was like a tri-daily experience.

The girl starts talking to this guy on her xbox who is like 17 years old or something, she's maybe 28.. They talk all day. This kid will wake up at 6am just to talk to her between the time she wakes up in the morning, and leaves for work. A married woman, in another country.

Anyways, divorce. Now they do the same thing - separately.
