EIN number from the IRS help
 

We're in the UK, and got our US LLC through yesterday. We applied for an EIN by fax yesterday too.
But the IRS told me today it usually takes 7-10 days, which is beyond the deadline of the 24th for registering with Visa

Anyone know how to get it any quicker.?
Are the US IRS helpful like that if you plead with them?

Things appear to have changed with the IRS. I was able to get one by finally reaching them on the phone and verifying they received my fax.

I dont know if it is any different for foreign companies.

Did they give you one there and then on the phone?
How long before had you sent the fax.

This was for a non-profit I was working on. And yes they gave me the number over the phone.

I didnt have to wait for the hard copy in the mail.

How long had they had the original fax. I only sent it yesterday, and the guy I spoke to seemed to think I was calling way to early.

It was some time ago but I faxed it, phoned in about 10 minutes later and got the number.

According to the IRS

"You can get an EIN quickly by calling the Tele-TIN phone number for your state."

It may be different for foreign companies but try these numbers:

Tele-TIN: NOT TOLL FREE (215) 516-6999
Fax-TIN: (215) 516-3990

Yes, you can get your EIN (Tax ID) over the phone in about 5 minutes. It's simple, they just need to verify a few things with you, and BAMMMM...they give you your new ID.
