Is it better to give cash or gift cards as gifts and which gift cards are best? amex?
 

Is it better to give cash as a gift or a gift card and if giving a gift card, which one is the best one that can be used almost everywhere? I don't want to buy them a gift certificate at a store but one they can use anywhere. Amex?

Do banks usually sell gift cards etc that are same as cash and can be used anywhere? I have no clue because I have never really gave anyone a gift card before that can be used anywhere in lieu of cash.

The best thing would probably be to just buy a gift.

If someone has actually indicated that he wants money instead of gifts, cash is best.

Most pharmacy type stores Like Walgreens or Rite Aid, they have cards you can just put an amount on and it can be used anywhere like a credit card.:thumbsup

i'd say cash.. a gift card is like cash.. only not. its like trading money in for something thats of the same value only a lot less useful.

Cash is better then a gift card because most gift cards expire at some point. However, if you know that they're going to buy something from a certain place anyway then a gift card is more thoughtful then cash.

cash is more useful but if you think you can give a gift card for a specific product you intend to give then that's more better and thoughtful of you! :winkwink:

Gift cards are for when you don't want the recipient to use the money to pay bills, but rather to get something for them self.

buy a gift. makes more sicerity and thoughtfulness:)
