Thinking of buying a house in AZ

Best part of AZ to live?

I see some nice places 600-1m in Chandler and phoenix. Same places would go for 3m here.

any recommendations?

Fuck Phoenix. Tucson rules.

chandler and gilbert are nice, i was just down there

Kenny B! 06-06-2008 08:11 AM

I've been to Peoria a few times, nice area

G-Rotica 06-06-2008 09:43 AM

Chandler is probably your best bet. Second is Snottsdale.

Gilbert/Chandler is great.

2 problems:
1. Market crashed but developers don't like to budge on pricing. IE you won't get a great deal right now.
2. Still growing. LOTS of construction all the time, dirt all over... cities are a mess. That will stop in a few months tho.

Good place to live!

i made it there 8 months ... the fucking heat killed me! 116 is just insane!

I lived it chandler .. it was nice .. but i would wait until later to buy in AZ .. prices are still dropping just like everywhere else ...

Megan

I have lived in AZ my whole life & it seems like something is always under construction, the roads & freeways are always being improvised.

If you are looking for a nice area all around that's newer & clean for miles, in each direction then NORTH Scottsdale or Chandler are probably the spots you want to look in.

There are plenty of nice areas in Phoenix & throughout Scottsdale, but you drive in a different direction for 10 minutes and you end up in a shit hole.
Arcadia is one of my favorite areas in Phx... nice older more unique homes, close to the airport, close to Camelback Mountain, close to downtown PHX & sports venues, close to the nightlife in Scottsdale but also close to some crappy stuff if you drive a few miles.

Good luck on your hunt, everyone seems to be selling right now. I would assume you can score something for below asking price given the market & the difficulty to sell.

Sedona looks cool. I myself like Lake Havasu because they have a fucking lake with a beach and stuff. Page looks cool as well... I know the house are cheap now.. check this video.

I never realized how hot 110 is until AZ. Knock on wood this June has been tame and well managable.

Arizona is beautiful! I've lived her my entire life also. We have mountains, and lakes galore! Do your research and good luck!

Yeah I dunno how you guys do to stay there year long... I'm almost dying when it's 100-105...

At least there's no humidity. Great AC + Pool = you should be fine.

Have fun in the heat!

Arrowhead area is nice. North Scottsdale, Fountain Hills, Camelback Mountain if you got the money. Paradise Valley is really nice... depends what your looking for. I like the NW area myself. The heats not so bad... but then I've lived here most of my life :)

DaddyHalbucks 06-07-2008 12:27 AM

I hear Sedona is nice.

xNetworx 06-07-2008 07:30 AM

Scottsdale if you want a nightlife without driving 10+ miles

Brother Bilo 06-07-2008 10:58 AM

I just bought in Maricopa. It's kind of a hike, but it's low key and you can get a massive house for relatively cheap. Might want to check it out.

Hey Vittle -- in addition to being an appraiser, my dad sells real estate in Phoenix, and he's really great at scoring deals for his clients. If you're interested, lemme know!

james_clickmemedia 06-07-2008 12:53 PM

I liked Paradise Valley when I last visited Phoenix this year.
