I believe several people have been able to do that. It takes a chemical reaction with aluminum I believe... the problem is, the amount of aluminum needed is quite expensive. :-)

It is not really that Sly. It is that you need a large amount of electricity to even break even and then you have this insane problem of it over heating. Then in reality your just running your car on hydrogen and not water. Everyone also makes claims but nobody ever really steps up and does it either with a real car. Nor is anyone going to get killed over it. Space shuttle uses same technology. Hell give me a plastic cup, some alligator clips, some aluminum sheets or a rod, some distilled water, and a 9 volt and I too will make hydrogen.

Oh before someone says something about the shuttle. Please go check and see how much battery power it really uses for shit.

...mmm not to bring politics in to this thread as I am not a McCain supporter but... I like how the old man spins the oil issue .. he's all like:

"this is a matter of national security, the millions of dollars we consume in foreign oil are going straight into the pockets of people who don't like us very much and a good portion of that ends up in terrorist organizations...we need to become independent from foreign oil to ensure national safety..."
