"Quit" is such a strong wrong. Just drinking more beer for a while.

BV 10-17-2002 06:50 PM

I'ts hard for me to even think about not smoking while I work, after I eat, when I drink beer, etc.......
I am 100% addicted, i know i'm killing myself and/or setting myself up for a painfull death.

Fuck I hate being hooked on these things. :feels-hot

Anyone else try the Zyban thing??? I am afraid of the side effects of that as well.

BV

what is so fucking hard about it?

it doesnt do you any harm if you simply stop smoking. you don't need help, just control yourself.

it's a lot harder to go on a diet for example. it's not like you can simply stop eating (i finally got the control of myself so much that i could even do that). you always have to pick the right meal and stuff..

but for smoking, just stop doing it and thats it..

if you can't even do that, maybe it is more important that you learn how to control yourself before trying to quit smoking, because it is a much bigger problem in my opinion.

Squishy 10-17-2002 07:13 PM

I'm busy trying to quit everything else you can imagine right now...smokes are pretty low on that list. They fall somewhere between smack and amyl nitrate.

That's almost true, but Cigarette companies ADD CHEMICALS that are intended to keep you hooked. I quit almost 2 months ago, and it was the absolute hardes thing for me to do. But I wish I would have done it 10 years ago. I finally got pissed at the tobacco companies for KEEPING ME HOOKED on purpose. I will never make it so that I have to go through the hell of quitting ever again. FUCK YOU TOBACCO COMPANIES!! You ain't gonna hurt me any longer.

Only a non-smoker can not understand the very, very strong physical withdrawals... but the tobacco companies make it that way on purpose. So my advice to anyone that wants to quit, just get angry at the tobacco compainies and you will find it's a little bit easier to cope with the withdrawals.

Just think about this... Is there any other product (legal) that has cancer causing chemicals added with the intention of keeping you hooked on something that is harmful to your health?!?!? I can't think of any other one. Period. Can you?

I smoked for 16 years, and now I am soooo scared that I waited too long to quit. Only time will tell, though.

Lane my anger is not directed at you, it's just that when people say, "just quit, it's easy..." well, it's not easy at all.

I'm taking some benzos to help ween down the opiates. Then maybe I'll use Neurontin to ween off the benzos while preventing seizures. Not that I have any plans of ditching optiates altogether, but it's nice to keep tolerance at respectable levels. I'm gonna need those fentanyl patches to work when 3 packs a day catches up to me. :glugglug

Fuck conformity. :thefinger

BV 10-17-2002 10:19 PM

what does zyban make you feel like? is it like a valum? does it help you quit smoking everything?

I've been told it's just a mild sedative to take the edge off. I've never tried it so I could be wrong.

I quit smoking over three years ago, the day my son was born.

I was in the hospital and I was in serious need for a smoke. I kept wanting to leave but I didn't want to miss the birth of my first son.

After he was born I decided then and there that I wanted to be around for him as he grew up, so I threw away my pack and quit cold turkey.

I didn't use any gum or patches or drugs. I simply stopped smoking. Everyone knows that they can do it deep down inside if they want to. Yes, the physical withdrawals are very real, and the mental withdrawals last much longer.

It wasn't easy, but once I set my mind to it, it was a done deal. As long as I knew that I was doing this for me (and my son) and that it was my choice, that was that.

At the time I was working in a bar as a bartender during the week and a bouncer on weekends. So I was surrounded by smokers and "friends" who kept offering my cigarettes.

If you really want to do it, you will. If you think you might "try" quitting and see what happens, you wont.

I'm actually on Wellbutrin which is the same thing under a different prescribing name. No sexual side effects whatsoever, it's in an entirely different class of drugs than Prozac and Zoloft. And you won't gain weight either.

Oh yeah... and I quit smoking because my wife Melissa and I are expecting our first baby :)

And your food tastes better. Your sense of smell is enhanced.
I quit 6 months ago and these were some of the things I noticed.
