No shit. And the term Big Apple has been around A LOT longer than Apple. Just another reason not to give Steve Jobs any of my money. Next thing you know Jobs will sue store for selling apples( as in the fruit ) and not compensating him for use the word "apple". Perhaps he'll try to get apple orchards shut down too.

New York should sue Apple for using their name.. "The Big Apple" has been NY's nick for as long as I know of.. Apple has to be pretty damn dumb to think they have a chance in winning this.

LOL, they aren't suing anyone. They are opposing a trademark application for the apple shape, seems fairly reasonable to me.

I don't see the resemblance other than the fact they are both apples, I doubt most consumers would make the mistake either.

You think it's REASONABLE. How? How is NY apple logo going to cause consumer confusion which is what any TM dispute is about. Exactly how many different appple type logos can one make? Is Apple the only company that can have an apple logo? That's not right.

Business is Business, you think it's wrong of them to try to stop people from using an apple logo? Are you really that dense? They can't just say "Well we don't like the idea of them using it", they have to come up with a reason why they shouldn't be able to, so they did. Smart business move if you ask me. If they lose they'll just say "oh well we tried" and if they win (which I doubt) they can high five each other.

Businesses don't become successful being "fair" to other businesses.

It's probably an important thing for them to file an opposition, in order to protect their own mark. They may need to do this in order that someone else can't come along later and challenge their use of a new take on their Apple logo, or if they style a green one, etc.. Still, it's a shame they have to and reflects on our system of TMs and Patents and bullies who use it in predatory ways as weapons rather than honest protections.

It's stupid period. And a waste of my tax dolalr. Because I'm paying some government employees to look into this.
A) the logo is not even close in any form

B) If it was another computer company, software company or an electronic company then they MIGHT have a point. No one is going confuse a CITY with a COMPUTER. Only a retard would walk into an Apple store and think "Man I thought I was going into NYC" or drive into NYC and think "Man this store is HUGE where do they keep the Iphones?"
