Now that we have those things out of the way, let's move on to something more important.

Why the hell do the US and its main political parties fail so miserably at democracy? I mean, seriously, it's not that fucking hard.

Ditch the electoral college, ditch delegates and superdelegates, ditch gerrymandering, ditch multi-issue bills - there, you now have a system which doesn't suck half as hard as the current one, and a lot less corruption to boot.

You mean in the same way the dems looked foolish when they were making that argument back when Gore lost to Bush?

I love it when people only agree with something when it's a positive thing for them.

Libertine: While I agree with the multi-issue bills, attaching riders etc., I don't really agree with getting rid of the electoral college. The US was founded as a union of states where those states were to determine who would be president in order to represent them to the world. IMO they should go back to that instead of allowing the masses to vote for a president. But then again, I also feel the president should have a lot less power than he's managed to steal over the decades.
