I met Ted Hughes a few times. We was one crazy mofo. Here's mine and my sons favorite.

Q
The water was purple black.
The breeze was thick and cold.

The billows attractively laughing above.
The rain grew soft and friendly.

Papa said, it's over, now that little bird will tell all his friends.

The sand was hot.
The sky was blue and white with pain.
The chance had finally come to ask;


Old bird, did you get to tell your friends?
