Serious Thread: I need your input
Just got back from my weekly dinner with my daughter. As her wedding is three weeks away we managed to fit in some discussion of it while watching the Lakers prepare for their next championship win.
Anyway, the topic of the father/daughter dance came up, and she said the choice was mine. So, how about some suggestions? |
Dancing queen. ABBA

The first question would be how good of a dancer are you?
|
please dont do luther vandross song dance with my father.
lots of other really really good ones. let me think on it. |
Can't Touch This - Mc Hammer
|
If you dont want a dry eye in the house pick this song.
Lullabye (Goodnight My Angel) Billy Joel Goodnight, my angel Time to close your eyes And save these questions for another day I think I know what you've been asking me I think you know what I've been trying to say I promised I would never leave you And you should always know Wherever you may go No matter where you are I never will be far away Goodnight, my angel Now it's time to sleep And still so many things I want to say Remember all the songs you sang for me When we went sailing on an emerald bay And like a boat out on the ocean I'm rocking you to sleep The water's dark and deep Inside this ancient heart You'll always be a part of me Lu-lu-lu-lu-lu-lu lu-lu-lu-lu-lu-lu-lu-lu-lu Goodnight, my angel Now it's time to dream And dream how wonderful your life will be Someday your child may cry And if you sing this lullabye Then in your heart There will always be a part of me Someday we'll all be gone But lullabyes go on and on... They never die That's how you And I Will be |
Ring of Fire, Cash.

When she said choice is yours. Does that mean song or actual dance?

Depends if you bring a tambourine or not

although you annoy me, i am going to give you a serious response... personally i would do 2 songs.. one of your choosing that relates to how you feel about your daughter or memories with her, or whatever... and she does the same.. and they play the two songs back to back (provided you can stand up that long without having to retire to your rascal scooter)....

As far as she in concerned (her words), we can do Born To Be Wild for the song while slow dancing. I am leaning towards Going to California as it is a favorite of the two of us. |

I would go with one of these two.
Tom Waits "Time." https://youtube.com/watch?v=B0Owl_X-m8I or Louie Armstrong, "beautiful world" https://youtube.com/watch?v=c5IIXeR5OUI |
Louie's not bad
|
Congrats BD - what about
"You Are So Beautiful" Joe Cocker? |
winter- Tori Amos ,bridge over troubled water

Ok funny answer.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=kaEubU8X-QE Serious answer. Fits everything lyrically, good to slow dance to. Emotes feelings from others watching. Many versions out there though I like the original. https://youtube.com/watch?v=3C6AXnnjgqI no rickrolls either. |
Lying in my bed I hear the clock tick and think of you
Turning in circles confusion is nothing new Flashback to warm nights almost left behind Suitcase of memories, time after Sometimes you picture me, I'm walking too far ahead You're calling to me, I can't hear what you have said And you say go slow I've fallen behind The second hand unwinds If you're lost you can look and you will find me Time after time If you fall I will catch you I'll be waiting Time after time If you fall I will catch you I'll be waiting Time after time Time after time After your picture fades and darkness has turned to gray Watching through windows I'm wondering If you're okay and you say go slow, I've fallen behind The drum beats out of time If you're lost you can look and you will find me Time after time If you fall I will catch you I'll be waiting Time after time If you fall I will catch you I'll be waiting Time after time Time after time Mmm, time after time Ooh, time after time Time after time |

wear a red tux to the wedding, dance to jingle bells...and instead of the guests giving the bride and groom gifts you pass gifts to the guests...or go with the hands choice of joe cocker...it's a good song pretty much sums up how you feel about your daughter and easy to dance to...all you gotta to is rock side to side and rotate:thumbsup

Tamia Dance My Dreams (First Daughter soundtrack) - I really kinda find it very sweet...

Louis Armstrong all the way. It's the perfect song in my opinion. Won't be a dry eye in the house.
|
And if Louis Armstrong is too outdated for the wedding, there have been people who covered it recently like Eve Cassidy.
