I've got hundreds and hundreds of movies on vhs.

Shit.. not even my grandparents own VHS anymore. I used to like to have them to record a show here and there.. but I have a DVR. Now I can have jpeg artifacting and a noisy computer instead of a $1 videotape.

I've been replacing my VHS movie cassettes with DVDs over the past couple of years, and giving the VHS versions to a local charity. The VCR wasn't even connected for 2 or 3 years until I needed to capture some old family tapes.

BTW: I bet the successor to Bluray is already being worked on so again we'll have to pay for another license for the same content... :winkwink:

I've got a shitload of VHS movies and nothing to watch them on except for an old RCA camcorder.

About a 1000 of them. And probably the same number in DVD. Czech TV sucks. LOL

I have a ton of VHS videos still. I also have a ton of DVD's.

I just got a combo player vcr/dvd and love seeing those old vhs tapes again.

Got about 1200 old tapes.

DVD really pisses me off.. first I have to pick country, then ask the thing to play, then watch warnings I can't skip, then watch traileres that sometimes can't be skiped eigther, and the even ask the damn thing to play again on the movie menu..
if that ain't enough, It will most likely have forgotten that I allready choose the country, so now I have to find subtitles in Danish after the movie started, or the movie starts in some stupid comentary version where some dude talks all over the movie telling why they did this and why they did that (Who the fuck cares, I just want to see the movie)

now with the vcr.. just put in the tape, and the movie plays :thumbsup

Heh, I don't even store DVDs anymore. I simply rip everything to Xvid.

Yup, HUGE VHS collection, tons of vinyl records, and if I dig deep enough, I still have some laser disks & a laser disk player

I have a bunch of kids movies on VHS simply because they're durable enough for a 2y/o to pop in. My 4y/o doesn't even handle the DVD's very well.

For me I say FUCK DVD, FUCK Blu-ray....

I've been moving to completely digital and storing all my movies on hard drives. Entire seasons of shows, tons of movies... all at my fingertips and ready to play without having to walk over to a shelf, find it, put it in...

For me a nice blu-ray based 1080p movie runs ~8Gb with 720p running more in the 4Gb range. Divx movies generally running around 700Mb at DVD quality.

Now when you can buy 500Gb HD's all day for like $75 and the 1Tb drives dropping in price so much which do you think is the REAL replacement for Blu-ray? Think about it, you can buy MICRO SD 2Gb cards for $10 all day long. The 8Gb full sized SD cards are dropping nicely in price so in a couple years I could see 64Gb flash cards being in the $10 range.

The replacement for 1080p will be a while so I see the replacement for these giant discs coming in flash memory paired with downloadable content.

Cartridge type systems simply work better than discs because of durability.

I still have a bunch left, but most are old disney movies from when I was a youngin.
