Anoyne else see the new video previews on Clips4Sale?
 

Barefootsies, and anyone else using Clips4Sale, did you see the new 10 second free Flash video previews that have been activated on the thumbnail images for seemingly random clips in your store? This is something new, I suppose designed to increase sales.

I didn't see any notice of this in the new admin either. Unfortunately, my 4x3 clips are squished into something that looks like 16x9, although I can't tell for sure.

I had to look around as I have 56 stores, but I finally found what you're talking about. Looks like it's going to be an awesome feature for all foreign webmasters and the US based webmasters who don't care about the law and going to prison, but unfortunately since they grab the 10 second clips from the beginning of the videos all my previews are my 2257 notice. :(

Fifty-six stores? Damn, do you have so much content that each store has a lot of videos each or did you break up your clips into a lot of stores with a smallish inventory each?

A lot of people break their videos into subclips for C4S, so a lot of previews on the site you will starting in the middle of the action randomly. Are the videos squished for you too?

I have about 10 fetishes, and then I separate the formats into different stores (god, I can't believe I'm saying all this on GFY). Anyway, so I have a foot fetish store in divx, then I have a DVD Quality WMV store of the same clips (the lowest quality clip links to the next highest quality clip store - IE: "If you'd like this clip in DVD Quality WMV 2Mbps format click here"), then 720p HD store. You get the picture. Then I dump all my Ipod, 3gp, dialup clips into their own stores. Work it.

And yes.... my 4x3 videos are squished, but all my 16x9 ones look great (for a 2257 notice, that is :( )

I have to admit that even though they compete with me (on a small scale lol) I'm impressed with Clips4Sale - some guy stole material from my members' areas (and others as well) and opened a store - within 3 hours of submitting a DCMA to them, they closed his store and gave me his name and email address. :thumbsup

It's the same for me. I have the 2257 info at the beginning of each clip, and it's onscreen for that entire preview. I hope they come up with a way to shut it off, because it's a waste and might give people the wrong idea

I've had that happen to me twice (once from one of my c4s stores, once from a members are), and they did the same; shut the store down straight away and gave me the contact info.

It's not really that much of a secret, and it's too much work for too little money anyway bro, don't sweat it.

I had been trying to get Neil for years now to do some sort of clip preview. I wanted a way where users could do their own 20-30 second preview. But automatically grabbing the first 10 secs of the clip is worthless. Basically you see the main title or 2257 card and that's it. I will suggest he finds a way to go into the clip past the 10 sec mark and go from there.

Anyone else have any other suggestions to play the previews better? :)

Just to make sure that the 4:3 clips are 4:3 and the 16:9 clips are 16:9. I love the idea of us getting to pick the 10 second clip, but even starting 10 or 15 seconds in is better then what the system is now. Thanks Ashley!

I was thinking the same thing; start the clip preview dead center, or something. If its an automated process, you aren't likely to get the 10 seconds you want to use, but at least in the middle it'll be content instead of 2257, titles or warnings.

I'm glad you mentioned it to him. I'm afraid customers will be wasting alot of precious "buying/jacking off time"..surfer and watching worthless 10 sec. previews and then getting pissed off and not buying anything, when their screen freezes and crashes..Tell NEIL to just turn that shit off..if it ain't broke don't fix it

Or if he's insists on keeping a preview, allow the producer to scroll through the scene and PICK the 10sec preview ourselves

just got this for one of my stores (but not for all of them, for some reasons) from Clips4sale:

We have a new option in Clips4Sale for you to set a 10 second preview available for your clips. If you go to the new admin system you can set your store to allow thepreviews.

In order to activate the previews you simply navigate to Clip Store and Edit Clip Site. On the Edit Clip Site link there is a drop down for Clip Previews. Set that to the desired time reference you wish your clip's 10 second preview to be taken from and it is that simple. If you wish to have any specific clip not have a preview, or have the preview taken from a different time reference on that clip, simply modify that option on clip directly. All clip stores are set by default to not allow the Previews.

Another new option is the addition of the featured clips in the Clip Store area. This option allows for 5 featured clips to be featured in a special area above the normal clip location. Simply click on Clip Store then on Featured Clips to set up your featured clips today.
