Forum on a website - How to get the first registered users?

i have put a forum running on my website, the only problem is now to get the first registered users? the matter is: noone registers to an empty forum usually. do you have any hints or ideas?

Have keyword rich conversations with yourself - it will bring extra traffic and will look to those SE surfers as though the forum was alive. Forums are a bitch to get started, but they'll go once you get the ball rolling. Just create few threads and respond with your other accounts to make it look like the debate is on going ;)

Register a number of names yourself and start some topics. Also you can find forum posting companies that will make posts for $0.08-$0.10 a piece. Search google for "Forum Posting" and you will find loads..

I've attempted a few times to get a forum going and let the people populate it. It rarely works :( Many might believe this tactic is slightly deceiving. I use to think the same, however our job is to entertain people. So entertaining them is the goal at any cost! ;)
