Ok, who loves to watch cooking shows, but...

cant cook worth a shit? I love food network, especially late night when i am working..

Mutt 05-25-2008 12:36 AM

me - i like watching cooking shows, home improvement shows, makeover shows, painting shows, fishing shows etc etc - i don't do any of those things but I enjoy watching how people who do know how to do something display how it's done. i find the shows relaxing too.

Monique Niccole 05-25-2008 12:45 AM

I hate to cook, but I love good food pr0n. I'm a foodie, so I love watching someone else whip up something complicated that I know I'm not about to take the time to do.

Daruma 05-25-2008 12:48 AM

Iron Chef marathon going on now :thumbsup

you hit the nail on the head for me, i find the above shows relaxing, especially when i am working...

CDSmith 05-25-2008 01:53 AM

I watch them sometimes. I cook by winging it mostly, and will never be following any elaborate set of recipes like they do with 20 different ingredients all pre-measured etc, but you do pick up the odd valuable tip once in a while.

There are just certain dishes that I would rather go to a restaurant and order, they're not worth spending 5 hours in the kitchen for.

JamesK 05-25-2008 02:04 AM

I love cooking shows. Any show will do but Gordon Ramsey's and Jamie Oliver's shows are excellent.

Can't cook for shit atm but I'm learning. I really like cooking too, but I mostly do it while sitting on a chair cause I'm lazy as fuck and get tired when I stand for longer than 5 minutes :)

qxm 05-25-2008 02:05 AM

I jack off to Rachel Ray ... and to that other chick ... what's her name?? ... Nigela Bites ....after rubbing my magic wand I wash my hands and cook :) ... these are the chicks:

I can't cook for shit, but wife can. Perfect pair. She loves to cook and I love to watch her and hence, love watching the cooking show. LOL

rowan 05-25-2008 04:20 AM

I find woodworking shows very relaxing, even though I'm too clumsy to do anything like that myself. My wife thinks I'm weird.

I can't stand Rachel Ray but I LOVE Nigella. I was telling the BF the other day that Nigella is the sexiest cook on Food Network and for some reason he didn't get it.

I love the way they shoot her shows all soft porn-y like with the soft focus and lingering on her boobs and showing her licking her fingers. Food Network knows exactly what they're doing. You don't see them doing that with the Contessa. :winkwink:

Zuzana Designs 05-25-2008 07:47 AM

I watch cooking shows all day while I work lol .. I love to throw in a couple forensic files too.. Or captured and Most Evil. They all relax me... But I LOVE to cook too..

lusciousness 05-25-2008 09:58 PM

i love watching cooking shows especially the Everyday Italian and Rachel Ray. I get some tips on cooking from them ;)

VeriSexy 05-25-2008 10:08 PM

Bourdain rocks!!!

I also don't think I'd be able to live without Good Eats and its star, Alton Brown. AB has made me a much better cook.

Bdiddy 05-26-2008 05:01 AM

My favs:

Bizarre foods
No Reservations
Good eats
and the show with Mario Batali where he's in that rustic style kitchen...cant think of the name :upsidedow

F U S I O N 05-26-2008 05:12 AM

I used to leave the food network on in the background while I worked. I can barely even brown toast :) I dig Racheal Ray and that one that looks like Natalie Portman. I'd totally hit Paula Dean tho :)
Its more often sports on tv nowadays

Violetta 05-26-2008 07:02 AM

I suck at cooking!

i used to love food network til i realized most of the shows suck balls, the cooks use the same techniques, it's all mostly italian style cooking.. not that there is anything wrong with that but i would like to see some other cultures. oh and dont bother mentioning that spanish lady on there, she just adds lime juice and chili to anything and calls it spanish. lol. theres an asian guy on pbs here his show is called quick and easy i think, that shit is sweet, hes quick as hell with a knife

There's an asian guy on the food network here, I think his name is Martin or something like that? Anyway, I enjoy the show but some of his dishes get a little uncomfortable... like soaking LIVE shrimps in brandy for a few hours, and they're still moving when he throws them into the hot pan...

is that the guy with the ponytail? he's a total prick, I hope he gets fucked by a giant shrimp soaked in uber-hot chilly marinade for 6 hours

For anyone born in the 70's or 80's I got one name for you: Pasquale.

Sarah_Jayne 05-27-2008 03:21 AM

I watch but I can cook..I just usually don't actually do the recipes on the shows but use them as inspiration to make my own recipes. Most tv chefs on both sides of the Atlantic add too much butter and oil to everything.

I don't mind Rachel Ray though I don't really get her in my face over here which might be annoying if I was in the States. I don't like Nigella much at all and she is a big one for using a whole pack of butter in everything she cooks.

There is no such thing as too much butter.

potter 05-27-2008 03:46 AM

i can cook. so i just hate watching because it makes me so fucking hungry. and i never have the supplies on hand to cook anything like what the host is cooking. :(

I'd think it would have more to do with your arteries, but whatever floats your boat.

MistressNirvana 05-27-2008 04:58 AM

If i start watching cooking shows , ill get hungry , and anyway I'll not be able to cook , so I'll end in a fast food , yukie .

EuroRev_Stacey 05-27-2008 07:05 AM

Haven't been a fan of cooking shows as I really have no passion in cooking :(

HotMeghan_GL 05-27-2008 07:11 AM

i don't really get into food network shows (with the exception of unwrapped) but i LOVE top chef.

You'd hate Paula Deen then. Just watching her cook is enough to clog your arteries.
