Pipecrew 10-16-2002 02:35 PM

when they have a russian version out, you might understand it better :)

salsbury 10-16-2002 02:41 PM

indeed. signs was highly disappointing. it wasn't worth it even at 2-for-1 pricing.

DarkJedi 10-16-2002 02:42 PM

what do you mean ? I did watch it in russian.
Its just the storyline was so cheezy

pr0 10-16-2002 02:48 PM

DarkJedi 10-16-2002 02:52 PM

i watched it in a movie theater.

Amputate Your Head 10-16-2002 04:58 PM

can't be worse than Scorpion King.... that one was so bad I had to turn it off halfway through.

Danny_C 10-16-2002 06:25 PM

I thought it was a well-made movie... but was a little thrown off by the blatant Christian propaganda.

The thing that bothered me the most was when Mel Gibson gave his philosophical proof of the existence of God... it was a classical argument for religion, but it's an argument that's been proven to be filled with logical flaws... and the movie didn't go into those. If they're going to bring that kind of philosophical debate into it, they need to show that there are two sides, or else it's nothing more than propaganda.

But that was minor, and other than that, I thought it was pretty good.

Pornwolf 10-16-2002 06:32 PM

The end was terrible. It could have been so much better if there could have been more than one alien.

Swing of the bat... the end!?! Bullshit!

Brown Bear 10-16-2002 06:36 PM

worst movie of 2002

DjSap 10-16-2002 10:55 PM

after seeing that it had 7.7/10 at imdb i actually watched it...now i'm convinced that somebody cheated on that poll...

you guys are on some real bad drugs
signs was the best movie of 2002. Im going to go see it for the 2nd time tomorow.

NoCarrier 10-16-2002 11:57 PM

That's because people were expecting a ID4 kinda movie..

It was not at all about an alien invasion.. The aliens were just some cosmetic to the main story.

It was simply about faith and the "signs" around us.

kontent-x 10-17-2002 12:01 AM

The beginning is really cool... I like it very much... but in the end it's close to a worse b-movie made by Roger Corman. No idea why they can't find a better ending for the story. I have seen the grossings on imdb.com and can't understand why this movie made 400+ million dollars...

ADL Colin 10-17-2002 03:06 AM

The first 90% of the movie was good.

RedShoe 10-17-2002 03:25 AM

You must have seen the same lame copy I saw. The version we saw didn't have the special effects sound track. So Mel would wake up and run out of his house and we were like, " What the fuck is going on?"

Here is a good movie review highly worth reading.
(It's a very short review)

JJMedia 10-17-2002 03:25 AM

Yeah exactly, the first part of the movie was good, sometimes it made you jump. But the ending was just pathetic. They should not have shown the Aliens, that just gave it a B-movie sign printed all over it. And the way they defeated the aliens. Hmm.... If they were smart enough to build spaceships, why the hell couldn't they invent some kinda of suite that would protect them against water. It's pretty dumb to attack a planet that consist of 70% water when they can't stand it. Ohh well, I guess Aliens are pretty dumb.....

Speaking of disappointing movies, I saw "The Panic Room" last night. I rented it because it was directed by David Fincher, who directed Seven and Fight Club, but the fucker sold out.

Very disappointing, over-long, predictable thriller.

what??? panic room sucked??? omg, porn peddlers have no taste in movies. I cant believe you guys. Panic room and Signs are the 2 best movies I saw this year.

The ending of signs...what would you guys rather have had? the alians attcking everyone and then president bush calling in the f15's and killing the alians? that would have been a crapier ending. You guys didnt like the ending because it wasent the normal crappy good guys kill bad guys and give you goosebumps type of crap. If you think about the entire story line, the movie ended the only way it could have in my opinion.

You're the one with bad taste in movies!

Come on, the whole plot of Panic Room was one big cliche. Jodie Foster and her estranged daughter move into some fancy house with a Panic Room installed, just in case some bad person breaks in. So what happens? The next night three guys break in looking for loads of cash? And where is the cash stashed? That's right. In the Panic Room, where Jodie Foster and brat have taken refuge. And of course, one of the bad guys is a black guy with a conscience.... yawn... so fucking Hollywood and so disgustingly politically correct.

And the kicker, at the end of the movie, mother and daughter have become closer as a result of their traumatic experience. And I'm not even going to get into the blatant product placement.

The film was short on originality and riddled with laughable cliches and holes in the plot you could drive a truck through. In short, the movie was second rate.

well, you make some good points, BUT, of course some things must be overlooked to keep a movie entertaining. Its like this...in scary movies people always split up, which makes them easier to kill. this is a known fact, yet they still do this in all scary movies. also, in movies when crime happens, no one waits for the cops, they all try and be a hero. Cops always arrive at the end, they never help it seems. Some things are made that way in order to enhance the plot. They may be obvious and too hollywoodish, but the point is it must be entertaining.

Roald 10-17-2002 04:29 AM

It's a piece of shit if you ask me, same for vanilla sky --> turned it off halfway

MetaformX 10-17-2002 04:35 AM

vanilla sky did suck
ANY movie that plays the "dream" trick on you sucks....they show you a bunch of shit, make you excited, then just say "ooops, it was just a dream". that is pure bullshit and insults what little inteligence I have left

You are right. That would have been an even worse ending....
The perfect ending would have been Mel getting gangprobed by 15 aliens.

marty 10-17-2002 05:08 AM

I liked it but then again I was in the right frame of mind for it.

Another day would have been another story perhaps.

He did...on the dvd coming out they will have that versions of the ending also...

Firehorse 10-17-2002 05:48 AM

The cause and effect /dominoe principle theme in the movie Signs was cool!

Most of the movie was enjoyable, the ending was a let down.
