I have to admit, I almost broke out laughing

My daughter and I went to dinner tonight at the place she is having her wedding reception at next month.

We are getting their Platinum plan because we wanted the open bar, wine with dinner, hors d'oeuvre laden waiters. It is going to be nice.

So anyway, we had to choose between four salads and three entrées. The dinner was to be comped. Nice treat.

My daughter ordered a Sprite to go with her meal. The waiter's response? "I am sorry miss. We have to charge you for the Sprite."

In other words, we will give you a $240 dinner on the house, but you are going to have to spring for that soda.

I refrained from laughing, but it was tough.

With the dinner at $240, I wonder if the Sprite was $20...

GrouchyAdmin 05-23-2008 12:36 AM

Just scrawl "BYOB" on the invitation.

Tomorrow: cake tasting. I should have had more daughters.

Bring your own milk.

DixieDash 05-23-2008 12:58 AM

Lol, you would think that would cover a soda.

Several years ago I was at the beach with some friends. We go into Dairy Queen and order some stuff. A friend of mine just wants a glass of water to drink. They tell him, "The water is free, but I have to charge you 10 cents for the cup."

We all started laughing. Between us we had ordered around $35 worth of food and ice cream and they wanted another 10 cents for their cup.

Be sure they won't start charging your guests for sodas and water the wedding day! :upsidedow

I would have told your friend to just stick his mouth under the tap just to make a mess and make them clean it up. See if it was worth the 10c to get the cup versus the 15 minutes of labor to clean the mess :)

cranki 05-23-2008 04:17 AM

I wonder whether that's company policy or just the employee's lack of finesse?!

Klen 05-23-2008 04:46 AM

Hmm this situation reminds me to scene from one tv serie but cant remember which.

Adam-NeonDollars 05-23-2008 05:02 AM

lol, brave new world, isnt it :P

sicone 05-23-2008 05:13 AM

almost in a way.. it reminds me of my wedding... the place we had the wedding at insisted we had flowers of course (nothing new there) but... because we got married on Lake tahoe... on on the lake, not the shore... we were told (on the wedding date) we could not have real flowers or rice or anything else that might land in the waters of the lake for fear of contamination or the disrespect of the lake.

Dont get me wrong.. it was the most awesome wedding ever and all the wedding pics in the snow (was in beginning of April) kicked ass and I couldn't of asked for more

if only the marriage was as awesome... going on 6 yrs divorced now. Dont know why I shared this.. but I did, so get over it
