acctman 05-19-2008 10:47 AM

FF is bugging, damn thing crashes more than IE. I wont even go into the memory leaks it has

Miguel T 05-19-2008 10:49 AM

Gotta update mine.

scoremoola 05-19-2008 10:59 AM

i can not wait for this... firefox 3 is far superior in speed and memory footprint than its predecessor. just a release candidate ( rc1 ). but it shouldn't be long now

Jace 05-19-2008 11:42 AM

I am using it now, and WOO HOO it fucking rocks

the load times alone are worth the upgrade

just a punk 05-19-2008 01:53 PM

For some reason FF 3RC1 don't allow to upload files in WP 2.5.1. visual editor (no "Browse" button). Am I the only person who has such a problem?

Angry Jew Cat - Banned for Life 05-19-2008 02:57 PM

Is FF3 working with most extensions?

StuartD 05-19-2008 03:02 PM

Yeah, FF3 is definitely far superior to most browsers out there. They've really done some amazing work under the hood on this one.

Elli 05-19-2008 03:22 PM

Can you install the British English version if you have a US keyboard layout and US version of Windows installed, I wonder? Microsoft Office used to freak out when I tried installing British English when it knew I was on a US keyboard..

Iron Fist 05-19-2008 03:32 PM

I'll wait for the auto update...

beta-tester 05-19-2008 04:23 PM

Great :) Thanks for heads up!!

Andiz 05-19-2008 04:24 PM

Works like a charm on my Mac.....

bronco67 05-19-2008 04:25 PM

Why do I have the feeling I won't be able to tell the difference from the old Firefox?

Isn't web surfing about connection?

No, not nearly. Under the hood, the browser has to do a lot of work reading the HTML, Javascript, XML, flash and other elements that have all been added to websites.
And while we take all that for granted these days, it really has grown into quite the complex beast.
Firefox 3 has been rebuilt from the ground up to streamline all of that and really chew through it really fast.
It also does resolve some connection issues as well. Remember that it's not just your computer connecting to a web server, it's your browser establishing that connection.

So everything from the initial request to how the page is rendered to your screen is faster.

pr0 05-19-2008 04:35 PM

I can't tell a huge difference yet....but its looking pretty cool.

Then again I'm on a Quad machine big time overclocked with 4 gigs of ram...so noticing small differences isn't going to be quite as apparent yet.

HomerSimpson 05-19-2008 04:37 PM

cant wait for it's release?

BTW: Can I have both FF2 and FF3 at once?

i have dual core and 4g ram and I had a huge lag from when I hit enter til when I saw the page

it woul always hang for like 2 seconds before it started loading the page, then because I have a insanely fast connection it would load in a second or two...i always thought it was the isp hanging due to finding the site, but with ff3 it doesn't do it anymore, i am loading instantly now

Bojangles 05-19-2008 10:57 PM

I had no problems with the beta. The new RC1 kicks ass, as well.

qxm 05-19-2008 11:04 PM

Does the RC1 work with Roboform ANYONE???????

Elli 05-20-2008 08:30 PM

It is running great and I love the new History searching, BUT FireFTP and greasemonkey don't work in it yet :(

A lot of the add-ons were not compatible at first... but they are all catching up with the release. My most important add-ons work great!

I really like this new version.

Krea Peter 05-22-2008 11:53 AM

Firefox is great but I like Safari better on my Mac as it seems faster....

Cool, I'm keeping an eye out for greasemonkey!

FF3 seems to have trouble with auto-refreshing pages. Mine eventually shits out after a few refreshes and goes into a weird cycle. It doesn't affect the other tabs, though.

NO it does not! I downloaded RC1 on one of my PCs and roboform does not work with it. So, I downloaded the previous version of FF and while roboform works with it now FF does not work at all. All the PC says is "FireFox has stopped working"

If you use roboform do not get FF3. And it looks like you cannot go backwards from 3.0 to 2.0.

wanted 05-22-2008 01:47 PM

too much addons aren't compatible for now..

Anyone and everyone who writes javascript/extensions uses "setTimout" to do anything delayed and for some reason, with FF3... that's no longer supported.
That is to say, it sorta works for a bit and then craps out.

There is a new way to do it, but it means having to change all that stuff in all the extensions.

SykkBoy 05-22-2008 03:22 PM

I've only had it for a couple days, but so far so good
I love the faster load times

lesbodojo 05-22-2008 03:23 PM

Yep. It's awesome.

GrouchyAdmin 05-22-2008 03:23 PM

I'm happy with 2.
