SECompare - what do you think ?

Got nothing better to do, so I made this : http://polimedia.us/seo/secompare.php

Whacha think ?

polle54 05-17-2008 08:26 AM

doesn't have that much funktionality..
I have no use for it, but maybe someone has :)

Marky333 05-17-2008 09:11 AM

Well, what it does for you is

1. Lets you search both yahoo and google simultaneously
2. Ensures your privacy - all the SE's see is my server's ip, you get no cookies, no ip logging, etc

I guess those aren't necessities, but I see a few groups of people really into it.

Sands 05-18-2008 03:07 AM

You should see about using Google's pay per search-Adsense-whatever thingy they have so you can make a few bucks while you're at it. I'm not sure if Yahoo has an equivalent, but it'd be worth it to check it out.

fluffygrrl 05-18-2008 03:28 AM

That's okay.

badboyyy1974 05-18-2008 03:32 AM

i can't scroll down the results.

fluffygrrl 05-18-2008 04:31 AM

If you move your mouse over either half screen and scroll the wheel you'll do fine

pr0 05-18-2008 04:34 AM

hey polimedia

i know what you did last summer :winkwink:

SmutGiant 05-18-2008 06:44 AM

you forgot to add scrollbars to the iframe :2 cents:

but other than that, looks cool. Should add the option to view more SE's too...

xentech 05-18-2008 06:51 AM

Scrollbars need to be added, i can't even mousewheel scroll

Unlimited 05-18-2008 07:20 AM

~Ray 05-18-2008 07:36 AM

Reason I didn't put scrollbars in there is that most desktops are set for 1024 wide, and with a split in the middle scheme, every pixel counts.

I've tested mousewheel scrolling on a bunch of browsers, and it worked fine, what browser do you use ?

Those pages that google/yahoo refer to without using cannonical form (ie, a href=/blabla instead of a href=http://google.com/blabla) will result in a 404. This is a bitch to remedy, and as it doesn't seem to affect actual results pages, but merely internal navigation, it's on the "to-fix eventually" list.

Seems some FF browsers have an issue with the scrolling. Added scrollbars.

That's handy, considering you can't actually search anything in the big G.

To be honest, I think most people would just use the control + T option that most conventional browsers come with nowadays.

Or at least usea more advance solution such as:-

(I'm running out of numerals - If they wanted TWO windows open, and if they wanted to talk to the se's directly, and if and etc.

Not a bad idea at all.

fluffygrrl 05-19-2008 12:54 AM

So I'm thinking about adding some other search engines.

What would you like to see as an option ?
