Editing .wmv?

Does anybody know what program is out there to edit .wmv?

edit the video in .avi using any video editing program, and then encode the .wmv using the Windows Media Encoder

you can't edit wmvs
only change attributes or convert them into another file type that you can edit. (but that way sucks because of major quality loss)
