Ah nice thanks! Just noticed that myself. :upsidedow

Bama 05-13-2008 09:22 AM

I put it on my pc - seems to be working exactly as advertised. I went from 70K usage down to less than 1k.

Overnight will be the real test. I usually leave my browsers open on whatever I'm working on so I can wake up and start where I left off. That's when I reeeeeeally get a firefox drain.

Brad 05-13-2008 09:50 AM

seems to work well. I wonder if there are any cons to this thing.

Emil 05-13-2008 09:50 AM

So how does it work? I saw a screenshot where firefox.exe takes up 32 kb... something doesn't seem right. :P

Sam Granger 05-13-2008 09:52 AM

Emil, I truely dont have a clue. Anyone else?

Brad 05-13-2008 10:13 AM

Seems to be working for me. went from about 40 mb to 1 mb in Vista.

Not me. I used the rapidshare link because it's a free application - he was just charging to download it from his server.

CherryV 05-13-2008 10:42 AM

pornguy 05-13-2008 11:33 AM

And yeah on the same thing he posted.
I downloaded it again, and when I go to open it, is says that it is infected, and it has some sort of greyware or something

Sam Granger 05-13-2008 11:39 AM

Hmm, I'll buy the one from the official site and see what that says... Greyware?

Brad 05-13-2008 11:46 AM

didn't pop up anything on my antivirus. can anyone confirm this?

eightmotives 05-13-2008 11:59 AM

Great find, definitely will try this out.

severe 05-13-2008 12:00 PM

bs, ur trading ram for something else. id stay away from this.
ur not going to be loading a program whos combined file size is 5-10 megs into 1 meg of ram. not even counting cache.

theres a fix to prevent memory leaks around if thats the issue ur having.

GrouchyAdmin 05-13-2008 12:03 PM

The utilized memory is the same; the current use is just aggressively slower. My guess is that it's just forking out firefox, and has been given a priority to force it to page out. There's a reason it's using NET 2.0.

Also, yum, random EXEs from the internet with a promise. Hey, guys, here's a phile to convert ur 2400 baud modem to 9600 and it works on ALLL of them!!!

Klen 05-13-2008 12:33 PM

So is this work or not?I downloaded it but i dont detect any virus but i didnt installed it yet.

clutch_hicks 05-13-2008 12:45 PM

that chopped the shit outta my usage. thanks for the great find.

stickyfingerz 05-13-2008 01:16 PM

I got nothing virus wise. PornGuy what antivirus are you using? Some of them pop up for things that you dont need to worry bout. And btw I would never post something like that if I thought it was infected so I sure hope not. :Oh crap

I use trend micro. I found out about this anti from Norton. when I had a virus before I called in the norton support. When they could not fix it, they sent me to trend micro. needless to say, Trned now has me as a customer.

Could be, But is it worth it???
Not to me.

Bama 05-13-2008 08:12 PM

I run Trend Micro too but didn't get any adware warnings but doing a little digging around i found this:

http://research.sunbelt-software.com...hreatid=231859

The software doesn't install itself on your pc so just stop and remove it.

qxm 05-13-2008 08:21 PM

holly shit.......from 130K to 1-3K .............this shit is scary.........kinda annoying to see that it keeps regulating firefox each and every second though.......

Iron Fist 05-13-2008 09:40 PM

Well I tried it as well... I know next to nothing about programs and memory usage/pagefiles, so for those in the know, whats the difference and can you explain this?

BEFORE OPTIMIZER INSTALLED:

AFTER OPTIMIZER INSTALLED:

So... I see my CPU going up at least 50% but overall Memory going down about 45 megs - seems like i'm trading one resource for another. Thoughts?

Yep, it's forcing paging out over CPU use, which is about like cutting your engine in half for less gas use.. despite general use with imports, that's not necessarily preferred with computers, because it works in the INVERSE.

stickyfingerz 05-13-2008 09:44 PM

Ya I shut it off already. I have a shit load or ram so didnt really need it. It did lower memory usage, but not worth the trade off. Even though I have cpu to handle it too.

I used to have something that set in the taskbar that I would right click and clear the ff memory when it started to leak. Forget the name of it, but kept me from closing my billion tabs out and restarting it lol.

farkedup 05-13-2008 09:47 PM

guys you want firefox to use a decent amount of RAM, RAM is your fastest access times. I only have 3Gb RAM right now and a full blown web server and file server running on my ubuntu box with ALL the eye candy on so my resource usage likely rivals Vista's but seriously why would you want firefox sitting anywhere other than your RAM? if you seriously need the resources imple CLOSE FIREFOX!

I say this 1 firefox window on each screen and about 10-15 tabs on each.... firefox, dreamweaver and screem are the main things I need open right now.

Iron Fist 05-13-2008 09:47 PM

Yes -- I need to upgrade... blah.

Oh and thanks GA for the response... interesting program - deleted it, but just wanted to see what my stats looked like.

qxm 05-13-2008 10:34 PM

OK so after using this thing for an hour I'm now disabling it.........it cuts back on ram usage and then comes around and starts to fuck the CPU ... way to go! .... big round of applause to the chick who wrote the app.........lol....

This thing slowed down my pc more than firefox in all its RAM eating glory.....

Yeah, I don't like to download stuff from the Interweb like that.... I'm running a quad processor with 4gig RAM so FF isn't much of an issue for me.

_jo_ 05-15-2008 09:58 AM

its useless IMHO. yes it cuts firefox's memory usage but the total memory usage ups by 3k, the 3k used by the optimizer. seems like its putting the memory usage of firefox on some rundll's i saw popping out in the task manager when the optimizer runs.

viencarl 05-16-2008 04:40 AM

is there any developer from fire fox that can explain about this questions??

Sam Granger 05-16-2008 05:41 AM

Hmm, from reading the responces on here, we should stay far away from this program. Thanks guys for the replies! :)

Klen 05-16-2008 05:52 AM

Yeah it's useless.Beside i have 2 gb of ram,so if there is toohigh usage i just restart firefox.
