Porn Up, Rape Down

A new study done at Northwestern University indicates a strong correlation between access to pornography, and NOT raping people.

The YouTube abstract - https://youtube.com/watch?v=NRGUWPBZLnY&NR=1

The actual Paper - http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.c...ract_id=913013

excuse me if this is old news, but I had never seen this study.

Should we be buying google ad words and linking people to his study or something? Does our industry sponsor enough research to support what we do, because dear god they spend a lot attempting to villify it.

that's been know for years, just like a hinger percentage of religion = higher percentage of child molestation.

I'd believe it. Do you have a link to any of the studies, I'd like to collect a page of academic papers that work together to defend our industry. Preferably studies like these that are in no way commissioned or funded by our industry.

that would rock

like kman does

This result was almost too clear and
convincing, so to check it I compiled figures for the four states having the most access to
the internet
. Three out of four of these states showed declines (in New Jersey, an almost
50% decline). Alaska was an anomaly: it increased both in internet access and incidence
of rape
. However, the population of Alaska is less than one-tenth that of the other three
states in its category. To adjust for the disparity in population, I took the combined
population of the four states in each table and calculated the percentage change in the
rape statistics:

Well isn't THAT different? Something positive cumming out of porn these days... I also think repressed sexuality leads to child molestation, ie: priests and anyone not allowed to express natural human desire. So perhaps by allowing guys in basements who have no possibility of dating or possible social life, we allow the fantasy of being normal thus preventing horrible actions. HHHMMMMM Good thinking.

I also heard this on the tv news some years ago. Way too long ago to remember exactly when or where. Long enough ago though for people to have forgotten it and simply decided porn=evil because someone told them so.

Porn is an outlet. Sometimes having an outlet is good. Gosh that was hard to figure, lmao.

organized religion is based on controlling peoples sexuality so of course porn is bad, can't controlled, so it's evil :)

Don't forget poorer (economically), higher violence, more unwanted pregnancy, general horror and squalor.

Should there be a group in the industry that supports and presents, or at very least collects studies like this in an attempt to educate the public.

Shit every other industry cooks the numbers by spending tons on funding research.

Should we be sponsoring an academic study or two?
