Hosthead down? Anyone else problems?
Hey guys,
all our sites hosted with Hosthead are down since about 3 hours and they won't tell us whats wrong, get no replies from their "support". Anyone else having problems or is it just our box? Regards! |

server is obviously offline ... A traceroute shows the last hop.
Did you try calling them ? (608-237-1694) Maybe there are no techs on the DC premises and one has to be dispatched. I never heard any bad comments on them, so this is surprising. |
Sorry to hear about hosthead being down for you so much mate. I can't really tell if it's just you or more of their network as i don't know of anyone that uses them to check with? Good luck.:2 cents:

that's strange we haven't had any probs with HostHead and our sites are all up too!

Just to clear the air a bit here. The outage was due to a failing HDD in the machine, and the tech worked on recovering the data for a good 3 hours due to the customer having no backup solution.
The tech was advised to update the customer, however he dropped the ball on that, and we apologize. He has been reprimanded for it, and I don?t think he will let this kind of thing happen again. Personally I think he was so wrapped up in what he was doing, he didn?t realize how much time had passed. I?m not making excuses for the tech, but I wanted to respond to this thread so our side of the story is heard. Thanks, Brad |

I had a similar situation on a box were my 2 clients had no backups .. The hard drive was still usable enough to recoup the data. But it did take a few hours to reinstall everything on a new drive as well as copy the data and set permissions and ownership as they should be. Hosthead has a good reputation , and if the tech would have clearly informed the customer, this thread would not even exist. :2 cents: |
