Do you need a model release to film a public event?
If you were filming a public wet t-shirt contest and put it on your site, do you need to have all the girls signs a model release? Or is it fair game since its public?

depends if you want to get sued or not

ask Joe Francis
unfortunately....there are no real laws in adult besides the ones they want to make up, and or enforce at their own whim |
You better at the very least get 2257 docs.

in the uk, you can film any public place.
but a public event may be private. ie, if a park has been booked for a concert it could be clased as private. But in some cases if you get permishion from the event organiser then that may be ok. Some events will probably not let you film such as a football game that is put on tv. But if the event is say in the streets such as a parade, then that would be ok. But as i say thats in the uk, but it may be a bit different in the usa, where i belive you in some cases not only need to have model release from people, but also in some cases from those who own property in the shots. |
but....
if its a wet t-shirt, i would be carfull. after all, if you shoot the girls and it turns out that one girl is 15, then your going to be in a lot of bother. after all, if its a holiday place, where any girl can simply enter, then I am not sure if they will check the girls ages. also if the girls were drnk, then regardless they are not in a frame of mind to sign a contract or to agree to anything. in truth its not worth the hassell. while you may think it will save you a bit of cash, due to free content, it could cost you everything. |
