Curious about video cameras... did a search.
 

Doing a little researh on cams all mainly for content collection. HD or SD is fine. POV is a big part of what I would really want to shoot. Just hunting opinions on a fe cameras I have narrowed down to... all Sony.

DCR VX2100 (3 ccd SD)

HVR A1U (1 cmos sensor)

HDR FX1 (3 ccd hdv/hd)

Any suggestions on any of the three. I'll have plenty of light so it wont be so much of an issue. Just any suggestions on the three... I here great things about the VX2100. I would be buying onr snd then a B cam as well. Thanks in advance.

If you will be holding the camera during POV all of those you mentioned will be quite big and not comfortable to hold and use at all.
Depending on what you're trying to do they also might be "overkill" and more money than you need to spend.

For POV I'd suggest something like the Canon HV 20, Sony HDR SR12, Canon Vixia HF 10, or any of the countless variations of these types.

The VX2100 has been around a long time and has become somewhat obsolete in terms of technology, yet remains quite costly (much like Canon's GL2) despite its age.

The FX1 has been "replaced" by the FX7 which has some nice improvements and costs about the same or even less.

I've never tried the A1U but haven't heard anything too bad (or too great, for that matter) about it.

A1U is small, under two pounds and has great audio....only one chip though. I have heard the VX 2100 has become a bit (qiute out dated) and your right, it still hold a pretty price. Still doing my research.....

Again, it all depends on what you will be using your camera for. If you're doing mostly POV, any of the larger cams is going to be a pain to use.
The smaller ones are great for exactly that type of content.

Also, what's your budget?

As for budget.. more or less $8,500+. Not over 10K. A and b cam. Not including accesories. Also concidering the U1Z(sp) though I havent gotten my hands on it to get a feel for it. Concidering other styles aside from POV but the majority will be.

What does that mean? Two cameras no accessories? For under 10K you can do GREAT with that budget. If you want the production value to be GREAT, you will need to spend another 10K on accessories!

not necessarily, I've seen some real crap posted here with top dollar gear... you can shoot great stuff with a 2k camera if you go about it right. correct lighting and proper post. the audio is usually the real struggle with the prosumer cams. not xlr, so you run into a real hassle

Yes, there will be lots of accesories... It's not included in the up to 10K range. I'd honestly like to keep two cameras if possible under 6,500.... More cash for production and such. Ilmost positive I can stay under $7-7,500 easy. A family member does post production and will do all at cost (plus copies :D) I also have three great locations to shoot for free to. Good friends come through..... again... LOL copies will be given. No way I'd think to do it all for 10K. Though I wish.....

As for bm Bradlys... The nice thing about the A1U is it has xlrs so mics are whatever I want to spend... then again..1 chip. I have seen footage of the cam in both HD and SD and like it. Except for the HD on my tv with the nice razor burn and pimpled asses! :)
