Drug Dealers Discovered America ??

http://www.plastic.com/article.html?...2252;mode=flat

"This archeological news brings to mind the controversial discovery of cocaine and nicotine in ancient Egyptian, African, Chinese and European mummies. The controversy stems from the fact that cocaine and nicotine come from the coca and tobacco plants, which in ancient days were only found in the Americas. Which means there could have been an ancient transoceanic trade in narcotics across either the Atlantic or Pacific. (Which could very well have been possible, given the additional archeological discoveries of ancient peanuts in China, corn in India, and Roman jars in Brazil.)"

Note: peanuts and corn are indigenous to the Americas.

And all this time I thought Christopher Columbus discovered America. Interesting research, though.

Oh please, there's so many claimants to that honor that maybe the question should be phrased "Which ethnic group did NOT discover America?"

So far we've had the following claimants [not a complete list by any long shot]

Chinese,
West African Kru tribesmen,
Moors
Polynesians
Vikings [they truly reached America by establishing Vinland near nova scotia/newfoundland]
Romans
Greeks
Egyptians
[if the Mormons are to be believed] the Lost Tribes of Israel
Hittites
Phoenicians
Japanese

so on and on....

I mean, its not that far out to think that maybe these groups [except for the lost tribes ] may have made it to America... since there's trade winds from Africa, the Bering strait, the Aleutian island chain, there's just too many ways and too much time before 1492 for non-Native Americans/Vikings to reach America.
