Can someone help me with video cameras for amateur shoots?

I need to get a cheapie video camera just to get started with making some amateur vids.

Is the Sony DCR-TRV520 OK? Its pretty cheap and I'd like to keep it around $600 for my first camera. Just something that can get me by until I can afford to get a much better camera.

If you can afford to throw in an extra $200 then I would suggest going with the TRV25 instead.

I suggested this camera to HeadPimp and he has been very happy with it plus the videos have been great considering that it is a single chip camera and he is also shooting amateur stuff.

:2 cents:

Go to a store and buy a Canon GL-2
Put it on a credit card and return in after you are done.

That is not what I would do , but it may work for you !

Panasonic NV-DS30 works good for me. Not that I know how other cams work, I have no other experiense, but I'm pretty satisfied with this so far.
