Chris Paul Robbed

NBA MVP Award should be no worse than a tie between Kobe and Chris Paul - fair is fair, politics suck. Should be co-winners this year.

Paper_Amar 05-06-2008 10:22 AM

I read the title, and thought someone tried to jack his chain or a car jacking of the sorts... the times we live in

Yeah I don't know how there could be someone "more valuable" to their team this year than Chris Paul.

I agree, Kobe and his team only got better when they brought in real players like Gasol, yet Paul took below average players and turned them into stars. Kobe does a good impression of jordan with his style of shooting but he doesnt do much to make players around him that much better.

The western conference race was the tightest race wev'e had in years, and thats what it came down to. All the NBA analists were saying the same thing, which ever players team ends up in the #1 spot will get the mvp award. Paul and kobe had great year, and yes could of gone either way, but they can only give it to one so it came down to who had a better record.

you obviously haven't been watching the games this year. After carrying his team into the playoffs last year (and should have won, they had no chance to win 40 games without him), he took almost the same group of players this year and pushed them and they played MUCH better.

Gasol didn't come over until Feb. He was with the same cast of players he was with last year and they were at the top or near top of their division all season.

Lol, I'll give you David West, definitely not Chandler. From a statistics standpoint, we may never again see a player average over 21pts/gm, lead the league with over 11assists/gm and lead the league in steals. What Paul did this year was incredible, he single handedly carried them to countless victories. Its hard to consider Kobe a valuable team player when the very players who helped lead the Lakers to the best record in the west are the ones Kobe wanted traded last summer. Thank goodness Mitch and Jerry didn't listen to Kobe's demands and did what they knew was best for the team, not what Kobe's selfishness wanted. The only reasoning that seems to make sense for Kobe getting the MVP is that many of the writers are suggesting its more of a career award, making up for prior years when maybe he should have won it.

Is Chris Paul a more dominant defensive player? Does he make his team defense better?

peedy 05-06-2008 01:15 PM

the hornets aren't shit without CP3 at the point, thus MVP

Birdman33 05-06-2008 01:24 PM

And the sympathy awards goes to KOBE BRYANNNNTTTTT! Btw he is the first MVP ever with such a low shooting % Another thing that goes in the record books for kobe =)

OG LennyT 05-06-2008 01:29 PM

Chris Paul is league MVP.. Kobe is, and always will be, way over-rated. I don't understand the west coast love for Kobe.. fucker was threatening to leave last year.

tiger 05-06-2008 01:33 PM

If Paul had won it I would say he deserved it with out a doubt.

If I were making a case for Kobe I would say Lakers won the west and Kobe's defense give him an edge over Paul. To say he was robbed is a pretty big exaggeration, either one of them was deserving. I said all year which ever guy got their team to the top spot in the west would win it.

Really who cares anyway, giving out individual awards in a team sport is pretty fucking stupid to begin with. All that matters is who wins the title.

The Lakers vs Hornets series will be great.

The series will determine if he was robbed or if Kobe is the right choice

DO you pay attention when u watch the games lakers where a 500 team without gosol .

bdld 05-06-2008 01:44 PM

before bynum went down and without gasol, the lakers were considered a championship-contending team. gasol only came in because of the bynum injury.

Not sure you can say more dominant, but he's considered one of the top defensive point guards to play in the last decade. He's single handedly putting the clamps on Tony Parker and not allowing his penetration, something very few have been able to do this year. His leadership and defensive energy have become infectious and the Hornets have gotten much better defensively as the season progressed.
