Any one up for a bet?

I reckon one out of the big three processors, ibill, epoch or ccbill will go bust over the next 6 months due to this visa business. I personnally do not reckon ibill but the other two will be a bit cash flow fucked...

Jayson 10-14-2002 06:30 PM

A friend of mine is up for putting £10k on Epoch...I have told him it is a shit bet...

Brown Bear 10-14-2002 06:42 PM

I would bet Epoch will go out of business.

Krome 10-14-2002 06:44 PM

If one of these goes down, which they will, it does not matter if you have paid your $750 you will have to pay it again to another processor.....you will lose your rebills plus that months sales, then have to fork out $750 to another one...you want to be where everyone else is as they will be making the money.....with 3000 sites now over with Globill one of these will fall...you can bet on more than one....

Jayson 10-14-2002 06:52 PM

Anyone who has all their billing with one processor as of next month is very silly.

Not sure which it will be but your prediction of 2 of the 3 wouldnt suprise me.

^R3K^ 10-14-2002 07:02 PM

no chance of it.. mark my word, not only will they be in business but there will be 30 others hehe

Jayson 10-14-2002 07:04 PM

The way I see it the billers have been operating outside of Visa's rules for years and were sitting around with their limbs crossed hoping they didnt get yanked. (I may be totally wrong but I dont think so)

Building a business on those foundations should see them being hung up to dry.

SetTheWorldonFire 10-14-2002 07:06 PM

I bet I can make you gamble :thumbsup

Krome 10-14-2002 07:38 PM

Lets look at the facts...

CCbill - Master of the small clients who they then try to make big
Epoch - Big time processor who has lost millions before and swallowed it
Ibill - Masters of serious scrubbing..can anyone get a card to go through with them? However they have moved out of being just internet only based company.

buran 10-15-2002 06:16 AM

I don't think any of them will have folded. I also don't think you'll have seen any new serious contenders in that market space. Let's face it, allowing a bajillion adult webmasters to process transactions on a Merchant Account someone over there is personally responsible for has to be at least a bit scary.

I think more of what you're seeing is backroom dealing between the government and Visa. The government wants to start tracking information on where the money is coming from in our industry, and Visa wants desperately for changes to the bankruptcy laws. A little horse trading goes a long way in politics.

What do you suppose the US has given away to buy the other countries into our little war in Iraq? Not to get off on a rant here...
