Racy photos of the Arizona State University Cheerleading Squad, posted on TheDirty.com blog, have resulted in the squad being disbanded. The photographs show 6 of the 16 member squad posing in panties and bras and were taken two years ago at a ?cheer party?.

TheDirty.com received an email from Lisa Love, the Vice President of University Athletics, who is quoted as saying the school ?decided due to recent events of inappropriate behavior by the Cheer Squad, they [ASU] decided to cut the cheer program completely.? There is some speculation that this email may be fake and that the photos did not result in the school ending the program.

One of the cheerleaders, Briana Barcelo, told Fox Phoenix that the photos played no role in ending the program, as the school had been planning on altering it for sometime. ?It?s just good timing on their part I guess,? Barcelo said of the photos surfacing at the same time the school decided to cut the squad.

It appears that the school is not eliminating cheering altogether; they are just eliminating the sexy cheerleaders. Instead they?ll have a ?spirit squad? that will be less about stunts, tumbling and hot girls and more about school spirit, support and cheering. This is sad. Like most guys, I lenjoy the cheerleading part.

Would expect something racier than those pics.

Why is that surprising? If a football player gets a DUI or gets arrested, on or off campus, he can get kicked off the team or at the very least, suspended for a game or two.

Athletes represent the University and they know what is or is not expected from them and what their code of conduct allows. They're on a full ride, getting their tuition, books, and usually board paid for them.

I don't know a single cheer coach who would allow that shit. If they were my girls, I'd yank everyone of their scholarships and let them go work at Burger King and pay their tuition like everyone else. Doesn't sound like they were much of a squad, anyway.

I understand something illegal they did nothing illegal.

I cheered my whole life and I coach girls now. I don't know that much about ASU, but most schools with legit teams require the girls, or guys, to follow a code of conduct. You sign it and it's all laid out for you when you receive your scholarship. Posing in your underwear at a "cheer party" and posting it online, would not be considered appropriate.

If they're a legit program, you'll just have to trust me on this one- the girl's know very well what kind of behavior won't be allowed and what will get them the boot. Which makes me wonder if the whole thing isn't bullshit. You always have one dumbass from time to time, but I can't believe that many of them would be so stupid all at once.
