Shooting softcore content - questions

I am shooting soft-core, no insertion, and girl/girl content this week.

I have produced almost 1,000 hardcore scenes and have to admit I am a little nervous about shooting soft-core.

The whole concept of shooting a scene without penetration is very foreign to me.

I have some questions for those of you that have shot soft-core, this is for video.

Do you shoot a lot more far away full body shots?

Do you emphasize the dialogue?

What do you do to keep the scene flowing?

Any advice that one can give would be greatly appreciated.

Here's some...

Don't produce something without a clear idea of what you want in the first place. If it's for you, make something you'd like to see. If it's content for someone else, make what they asked for.

Otherwise you just end up with garbage.

You can do that?

But what about your penis?

Was your penis consulted in this at all?

I have a lot of experience with this. You want to film a lot of dialog or tease footage that looks sexy depending on the project to fill up time, but not go overboard with it. During the action you want to look for creative angles to film medium shots with no penetration and close up face shots. Also cutaways are your friend, to make it easier for the editor. You shoot a close up of something and pull out from it to show the wide shots, plus you get some isolated cutaway shots, like say the fireplace nearby, or a pelican watching the scene if you are filming outdoors or a vase of flowers on the mantle nearby, to tie things together just in case. And don't forget the "fip", or fake internal pop, in a softcore version of a hardcore or simulated boy-girl scene.

Thanks for the tips. You reinforced what I thought.

You are at the mercy of the model.

I think a lot of it will have to do with the models and whatthey are used to shooting?
Are these Porno chicks or Glamour models?

I don't think shooting more far away full body shots is the answer either.

Sorry I can't help with specifics, I'm not a professional but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express the other night. :-)

Just go withthe flow :-)

Cheers,

if you watch cinemax or showtime late-night it should help give you some inspiration.

Best advice you are going to get.

I produce nothing BUT girl girl, and single girl soft core for years now. If you do not know what you are doing, or the niche you are trying to cater to. You might wanna lite the money on fire now.

:2 cents:

That's funny because I did do that.

I also checked out a lot softcore sites to see how their content looked.

RevSand 05-05-2008 09:14 PM

You pay me to shoot it for ya!!

Some very good advise here, add to the cut aways face, tits, soft ass shot, panties on crutch shot, hand over naked crutch shot. Side ways on masturbation shots.

Spot on. If the model has what it takes you're up and running. If she does not you're dead in the water. And it can't be a half hearted fake either. A girl with being DPed can get away with faking it, most girls doing softvore have to reach inside to pull something out for real. A girl having a real orgasm and sharing it with you can be very effective, a girl telling you how she likes to have sex, what she will do to you, what you will do to her, a girl trying her best for you to get your dick out and jerk off in front of her is one of the best soft core films ever. She has to genuinely want you to get your dick out in front of her, telling you and teasing you. A girl doing it to a camera is not the same, it lacks the personal interaction.

You're the boss and make sure she works to your instructions. You had best know what they are first. Then you tell her on the casting what you're aiming to achieve and how you will work and why it needs to be done that way. Have others around the location but not in the room. It's a one to one thing.

Shooting softcore solo properly is the toughest genre in porn. Couples are easy by a long shot.

Good advice if shooting couples.

Spot on the money, know what you're going to shoot before the model turns up for a casting. Do not spring it on her on the shoot and do not "wing it"

I'm not sure what you're shooting and how softcore you want to go and why you're shooting it. If it's a drop dead gorgeous model you want to shoot then you might be stuck. She's already in control, not you.

If you want to shoot for a softcore site, why bother unless you know exactly what to do.

How softcore are you going? No penetration gives you masturbation full on. True softcore gives you a lot less options.

Tough one to answer and I hope some of the above fits what you're trying to achieve.

Best advice on the thread. I shot in the UK for 10 years, a lot of it was softcore. You need to be 100% certain what you want to do and what the girl can do before she even arrives for the shoot. Or be ready to send her home if she can't do it.

Porno Dan 05-06-2008 12:48 PM

Thank you very much for the advice. I feel pretty good about shooting this.

I have a very clear plan as to the type of content I want to get out of the scene, and the models and I have been over the scenarios several times.

I appreciate your help.

No problem chief.

I shot two girls today.

The first girl was 18 and had never done anything before. She did an amazing job. I could not have been happier with the way the shoot turned out.

The second girl had only been in porn for two and half months seemed like she would do fine. She had a real hard time doing softcore and even said she would rather "get fucked and suck dick" than shoot what we were doing.

Oh well, I have two more girls tomorrow.

Post pix, and include toes.

Thanks.
