Designers point of view: Mainstream vs Adult
 

To all the designers here, why do you go for ADULT instead of Mainstream?

for me its simple, its faster and there is no shit to go thru to land a job, in mainstream I need weeks, presentations, and tons of work for a simple site, but with adult, if they like my work, they give me the job, but again with adult the money is not so good, and there is more competition willing to do the job for much less... what about you guys?

mainstream = more money, less work, easier work, less coding, less competition
adult = less money, more work, somewhat easy work, more coding, more competition

In adult, everyone and they're grandmother can design some cheap p.o.s. tgp or tour design. It's the same default design over and over with a quick style change. In mainstream it's wicked easy to stand out and go beyond the norm to design a new and ground breaking style. Plus there's more money in being a good designer and doing mainstream. In adult, you have every 16 year old kid who thinks he's a designer and will do the same job for $400.

Also, people in adult want their designs done in three days. Very few in this business appreciate a design that takes weeks to accomplish. You give someone in this industry a minimal completion date of two weeks. They either go somewhere else or bug you every two days about it.

So is it done yet?

Both adult and mainstream has its ups and downs. We go for both. Its a matter of different presentation. Yes, prices such as $6/banner are laughable in mainstream, where it usually costs $90/banner.

You obviously speak of the most uppercrust of the mainstream market. i've made my way around some mainstream webmaster forums, and if you think adult webmasters have their fair share of scamming cheapasses, you haven't seen nothing yet...

Your damed if you do, your damed if you don't , There are benefits to both sides of the coin. we do both and the ones that really watch there pennies are the pain in the asses!!!
