how much do you think redtube, or youjizz

make a day after they pay the bills, just an estimate?

notoldschool 05-04-2008 03:37 PM

quite a bit im sure.

BusterBunny 05-04-2008 03:38 PM

two fiddy

Yngwie 05-04-2008 03:39 PM

I'm sure it's plenty otherwise they would not continue. If they are losing more $ than they are making that would not be very smart. That's just my 2cents though.

Fap 05-04-2008 03:46 PM

I know YouPorn is paying $350k/month for bw im sure that cuts into their profit a bit

DirtyProfits 05-04-2008 05:10 PM

redtube got lots of search engine listings, without them they'd probably lose money but with that amount of quality traffic they must make a profit.

k0nr4d 05-04-2008 05:27 PM

i think they do alright.

<shameless plug>
Anyone interested in starting a site that size should hit me up, i coded youjizz.

d-null 05-04-2008 05:51 PM

If youporn has 10,000,000 uniques per day and 1% click through to a sponsor and it converts 1:1000 thats 100 joins aday, at 50 bucks per join that's $150k a month. I sure hope they have good advertisers to make up for the other $200k a month in just BW.

How many uniques per day does youporn have?

yea I can imagine. 350k just sounds so much though, like 100 $3,500 per month servers and at that level you get pretty big discounts lol. It's gotta burn hella lot BW though to serve 100mb movies to millions of people daily

XMaster 05-04-2008 06:23 PM

- 100k ?

Thats how much they payheh.. much better than divx stage6 was

evildick 05-04-2008 06:28 PM

I don't understand how a person could whip out their credit card and pay for any type of regular porn site after visiting those tube sites.

What more is there? There can't be that many people looking for dating sites, is there?

Sly 05-04-2008 06:30 PM

$350k?

You could get over 30 gbps for that...

~30,000 people streaming 1000kb/s at the same time 24/7 that's not bad

Didn't Stage6 have big corporate funding? I'm not familiar with Veoh.

Not to mention... they closed.

I always wonder how regular people (no offence) know such figures.

you'd either need to know the site owners or be best-buddies with the hosting company....

I think alot of people base it on hosting quotes THEY have had. I can't imagine the favorable hosting deals these tube sites must be getting.

though that business model worked for youtube.

kane 05-05-2008 02:54 AM

In that article on youporn on portfolio.com the owner said it brought in around 120K a month, but didn't say if that was before or after expenses. I would assume it is before.

That's pretty interesting. Not throwing mud here but that's enough to make some good coin on BW, not so sure about legal fees however.

I do not follow Tube Wars, but should the above statement be true, and they had illegal, or not authorized content...

a simple, aigned, DMCA faxed to Google from a company who did not authorize their shit on that site would have them removed from SERPS, and the G.

Something to think about Tubies. :winkwink:

Certainly.

Though if you want to pull numbers out of your ass you could make them more on point. Most the noobs here will take a hypothetical 1:1000 as gospel and run out to try their own tube site, when they'd be stoked with 1:10000 or higher. Fuck, not even realizing the difference between movie views vs tour hits.

Watching them lose money would be a riot, but it will still cost producers money and train more surfers to no longer be customers.

I know people with tube sites that have convertions better than 1:1000, mostly with dating. Ofcourse that is unique sponsor clicks not movie views or page views or whatever.

Sure the number 1:1000 was just an example to put into perspective how much and good they will have to convert to get 350k a month just for hosting (like banthis said they pay).

I am perfectly in understanding that most tube sites are no where near 1:1000 but what does that matter to me?

Let's do it again: If youporn get's 10,000,000 uniques aday and 1% of them click through to sponsors and they need to pay their $350k hosting bill with the money it makes, they will have to convert better than 1:430 at $50 per sale just to survive.

Now we can state the obvious, they don't have an $350k per month hosting bill
