Taser corp. wins lawsuit. People don't die of tasings, die of "excited delerium"

Quote:

"Taser International recently started a legal campaign against medical examiners who claimed tasers contributed to the cause of death for several people. On Friday, an Ohio judge ruled in favor of the stun gun manufacturer (free registration may be required). While they do have a number of scientific studies on which they establish their claims, it's interesting that the alternate cause of death they champion ? excited delirium ? appears only in police reports on the deaths of difficult or drug-addled inmates, not in medical textbooks. Of course, that may change soon ? Taser is funding and promoting research on the subject. Coroner reports such as the ones in this case contributed to the UN's opinion that taser use is torture."

That's like saying people don't die from getting shot, they die from loss of blood..

I guess guns don't kill people, bullets do.

Unless you make bullets.. Then guns kill people, clearly.

I think I read in Vancouver the frickin TRANSIT cops have them now, and someone died from being tasered.. Their crime? They jumped the turnstile.

Do the right thing, beat up a security guard.

If the average person is in a self defense situation that does not warrant use of deadly force and the attacker dies unintentionally, then am I correct in saying that there will probably be trouble?

LiveDose 05-04-2008 11:04 PM

Don't tase me bro!

Lance69 05-05-2008 03:17 PM

I'd still rather take a Taser than a bullet, which is the alternative. Or god forbid put my hands up and call a laywer and not get Tasered at all. Things that make you go hmmm. :2 cents:
